General Summary
This position is responsible for ensuring the reliability, availability, and security of campus servers, storage systems, and the Microsoft environment, including Entra ID and Active Directory. Reporting to the Network and Telecom Director, this role oversees the administration and management of the university's systems infrastructure, electronic messaging systems, enterprise storage solutions, file systems, and identity management and authentication systems. Responsibilities include daily monitoring of enterprise backup systems, managing employee clearances, and adding new users to ensure smooth onboarding and access control. The position ensures seamless system integration across campus and provides timely resolution of work orders. Additionally, it ensures that all systems comply with West Texas A&M University policies, Texas A&M University System regulations, PCI security standards, FERPA, copyright laws, and the State of Texas Department of Information Resources (DIR) Texas Administrative Code (TAC) 202.
Responsibilities:
+ Manage the daily operations of campus servers, including Dell servers including patch management, antivirus, malware and ransomware protection and monitoring, and Microsoft Active Directory infrastructure management, including Microsoft Entra ID.
+ Monitor and manage of identity management and group policy management including using systems to detect anomalies such as account lockouts and logon failures that occur throughout the day on desktop systems, servers, VPN, and wireless devices.
+ Monitors, manages, and reports on daily system backups, data protection, disaster recovery efforts.
+ Assists with administration and management of VMware environments and storage area networks
+ Helps analyze system logs and identify potential issues with computer systems.
+ Troubleshoots and repairs hardware and software for servers.
+ Troubleshoots and repairs configuration problems and assists with troubleshooting network problems.

Necessary Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience
+ Two (2) years of experience with Microsoft Windows Active Directory, Entra ID (formerly Azure Active Directory), email systems, storage systems, and other enterprise level applications, including hands-on expertise with server hardware and backup systems.
+ Experience in managing, administering, and securing server and desktop computing systems, with a solid understanding of network and security protocols.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to clearly convey information and ideas.
+ Skilled in fostering collaboration and contributing effectively within a team environment.
+ Demonstrates exceptional customer service skills, ensuring positive and productive interactions with clients and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Master’s degree in applicable field
+ Two (2) years system administration with Microsoft systems infrastructure and enterprise experience.
+ Two (2) years of experience with Linux OS and server, enterprise server configuration and management with Dell and VMWare ESXi.
+ Experience managing enterprise backup systems.
+ Relevant certifications including Microsoft
+ Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, Microsoft
+ Certified: Windows Server Hybrid Administrator
+ Associate, Microsoft Certified: Security, Compliance, and Identity Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Identity and Access Administrator Associate, VMware Certified Professional – Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV), VMware Certified Advanced Professional (VCAP).
+ Experience with securing network systems including running patch management systems and managing large scale antivirus/malware detection and prevention systems.
