NightWing is supporting a U.S. Government customer on a large mission critical development and sustainment program to design, build, deliver, and operate a network operations environment, including introducing new cyber capabilities to address emerging threats.  NightWing is seeking a Sr. Linux Systems Administrator to support the design, development, and deployment of advanced cybersecurity capabilities.

Job Responsibilities:

Managerial:

ServiceNow Ticket Distribution 

Assign to the proper team member of PIE the tickets that NOC assigns for incidents 

Re-assign tickets that are not correctly assigned  

Work with NOC Chief to validate the correct priority of tickets  

Follow up on tickets that have been around the queue for a long period 

Weekly CMDA updates 

Prepare the weeks high and critical incidents as well as advisories for weekly meeting 

Support other ARTs and sections with PIE resources 

Discuss with and assign team members to support PI tasks 

Work with other sections for support on joint applications and OS’s 

Work with PIE PM/PPM when issues arise and assign the correct folks to tasks 

Maintain onboarding 

AIS2 onboarding has a high priority and very visible 

Make sure AIS2 tickets are completed 

Make sure training takes place within the team for others to assist 

LRA Onboarding 

LRA requires diligent onboarding tasks to be completed.   

Assign LRA and new team members to be trained with onboarding 

Personnel 

Maintain timecards for PIE folks 

Make sure PIE folks are staying up with their training requirements 

Assist PIE folks with issues pertaining to both RTX and DHS 

Council and support personnel with job requirements/training 

Technical:

Linux Systems Administrator applies current technologies to the design, development, evaluation and integration of computer information systems and networks to maintain system security.

Works with commercial computer product vendors in the design and evaluation of state-of-the-art secure COTS applications, operating systems, networks and database products and technology.

Provides security engineering and integration services to internal customers.

Involved in a wide range of issues including secure architectures, secure electronic data traffic, network security, information security and privacy.

Develops security systems for any manual or automated systems environments.

Responsible for ensuring the protection of company data against unauthorized disclosure, accidental or intentional loss of data, or unauthorized modification.

This position requires shift work with possible nights and weekends.

Required Skills:

Must be a U.S. citizen

Must have a current Secret clearance with the ability to obtain a TS/SCI clearance.

Must be able to obtain DHS suitability prior to starting employment.

Knowledge of Red Hat version 6 or 7(rhel6/rhel7) with the ability to engineer, install, administer and maintain

Skilled in Linux-related scripting (Bash, Perl, Python, etc.)

Proficiency with configuration management using Ansible or Puppet

Kernel infrastructure understanding in a Linux environment

Experience analyzing and evaluating the security of new and existing IT systems and the procedures to protect information system assets from intentional or inadvertent modification, disclosure, or destruction

Experience analyzing and evaluating the design and operating effectiveness of Information technology and security controls that are in place.

Knowledge and understanding of operating systems, networks and services.

Experience evaluating security solutions to ensure they meet security requirements for processing classified information.

Manage changes to system and assesses the security impact of those changes.

Desired Skills

Experience with Apache web server configuration and management

Management, deployment and troubleshooting of Java and Tomcat applications

Experience and/or familiarity with the following network protection devices: Firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems (IDS/IPS), log analysis, malware analysis, network traffic flow and packet analysis

Required Education: 

Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field.   Two years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree level education

The salary range for this role is 96,000 USD - 200,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance.
