Bowhead seeks a Systems Administrator Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team supporting the Program Office for NSWC Corona in Norco, California. The Systems Administrator SME will work directly with the client analyzing complex and unique technical support assignments and lead or collaborate with other system administrators, cybersecurity personnel, and program analysts within an agile environment.
Responsibilities• The Systems Administrator SME administers and supports daily operational requirements of computer network systems including workstation, file servers, and web servers.
• Serve as network SME as a leader or contributor with other network SMEs to impact network efficiency, security and the implantation of technical upgrades
• Installation of hardware, software, systems upgrades, network accounts, network security, and web page design, interface and updates, and local system design documentation.
• Cyber WorkForce (CWF) directives are maintained and up to date with respect to certifications
• Support directives to upgrade, maintain and optimize existing network infrastructure
• Maintain, troubleshoot, and implement network security tools including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection services.
• The Systems Administrator SME trains staff on software applicable to their position, assists customers with information technology, monitors system configuration (hardware and software), and provides instruction on computers and applications.
• Answering questions about installation, operation, configuration, and customization.
• Applying advanced diagnostic techniques to identify problems, investigate causes and recommend solutions to correct common failures.
• Specific support consists of troubleshooting hardware, software, and network related issues encountered by users.
• Software support includes, but not limited to Windows and Linux/Unix operating systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and various specialty engineering and scientific development tools.
• Installation of new software releases, system upgrades, evaluation and installation of patches and to resolve software related issues and Information Assurance Vulnerabilities (IAVs).
• Assist with the maintenance and monitoring of the organizational mailbox to ensure that all users receive timely support in response to their requests for assistance.
• Maintain and develop IT related procedures required to support the organization.
• Support also includes working with the organizations Information Systems Security Officer (ISSO) for achieving system accreditation.
• Provide recommendation to future IT needs of the organization.
• Maintain data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
• Assist in the preparation of a monthly progress and status report.
• A high school degree, or a GED, and more than seven (7) years of relevant system administration and five (5) years of experience installing patches, performing system updates, managing server and storage processing strategies and providing a wide range of system administration functions, OR
• A bachelor's degree in a relevant field and four (4) years of relevant system administration, and three (3) years of
experience installing patches, performing system updates, managing server and storage processing strategies and providing a wide range of system administration functions, OR
• A master's degree in a relevant field and two (2) years of relevant system administration and experience installing
patches, performing system updates, managing server and storage processing strategies and providing a wide range
of system administration functions.
• IAT Level II certification is required
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the minimum Secret level.
Physical Demands:
• Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds
• Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
• Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
