Perform high level functional and IT analysis. Manage daily activities of configuration and operation of business systems which may be mainframe, mini, or client/server, based. A week in the life of a Systems Administrator: 

Provides assistance to users in accessing and using computer system. Maintains organization’s servers and workstations. Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems. Performs system backups and recovery. Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity. Applies principles and methods to difficult problems in technical areas to arrive at automated solutions. Designs and prepares technical reports and related documentation, and makes charts and graphs to record results. Prepares and delivers presentations and briefings.
