Summarized Purpose:

We are presenting an outstanding opportunity to join Thermo Fisher Scientific as a Systems Analyst II. In this role, you will analyze business and user needs, document requirements, and build the functional specifications for systems and reports. You will formulate and define systems scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with an understanding of applicable business systems and industry requirements.

Education/Experience:

Requires a 4-year degree in Computer Science or a related areaExperience of 3-5 years in a software development context, including at least 3 years dedicated to requirement gatheringvOr an equivalent combination of education, professional training, and experience that provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities

Major Job Responsibilities:

Collect and document requirements and develop specifications for large or moderately complex systemsAnalyze intricate problems with requirements and composeDefine the interaction of data with other systems/databases at PPD or client companiesWork with developers, QA testers, validation team members, and managers to develop and analyze necessary project documentationOffer mentorship to junior level Business System Analyst staff in requirement gathering projectsAssist in estimating time and resources for requirements and developing projectsManage small-scale projectsStay abreast of the latest developments in related technologies; share knowledge with team membersTrain on new technologies and tools related to job duties

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Strong grasp of the system development life cycle and requirements methodologyStrong grasp of requirement gathering methods, including waterfall, Agile, Spiral, JAD sessions, and standard processesCapability to draft use casesStrong grasp of various types of requirements including Business, User, Functional, and non-FunctionalAbility to write specifications for moderately complex systemsProficient in MS OfficeAbility to estimate the level of effort for small to medium-sized projectsCapability to guide junior Business System Analyst team membersStrong business skills, including documentation, presentation, interpersonal, and communicationStrong problem-solving and analytical skillsStrong planning and organizational skillsAbility to interact with relational databases at an intermediate level
