Systems & Applications Specialist for Audio Visual Technology

We are looking for a Systems and Applications Specialist to work with our Information Services Department to concentrate on the A/V side of the house. This employee supports desktop hardware and base and departmental-specific software and applications. You must have a good working knowledge of web-based video conferencing platforms (Teams, Zoom, Webex, Blue Jean, Cisco Meeting, and even Skype in some cases). We prefer someone with knowledge of hardware-based codec ( ICsco/Tandberg, Polycom, Lifesize). You should also bring a good working knowledge of basic Networks and SIP/H323 protocols in video conferencing. In addition to this, we need someone with a strong knowledge base in supporting Windows desktops/laptops, Apple products, and other smart devices used for streaming video and web conferencing. You must have the ability to troubleshoot technical issues related to AV peripherals or software applications in streaming or video conferencing. And it would help to have video and audio editing skills. 

This full-time position will require the employee to report to an office in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. It is classified as exempt. You will be eligible for all benefits from UTHealth, including healthcare coverage and participation in a pension plan run by the State of Texas. The location is on the Metro Rail service lines for both bus and train routes.

Position Summary:

It supports desktop hardware and base as well as departmental-specific software and applications with a concentration in audio-visual software and hardware.

Position Key Accountabilities:

1. Installs, configures, maintains, repairs, and otherwise supports services, specialized custom applications, desktop computers, software, applications, and related equipment in a networked environment.
2. Troubleshoots desktop services and systems; recommends improvements.
3. Trains users who need additional core computer and application skills as the position-related information technology responsibilities evolve.
4. Documents each troubleshooting case, annotating all updates to ensure proper documentation of the final resolution.
5. Maintains inventory information of servers, desktop services, and equipment.
6. Participates and executes rollouts/deployments, migrations, and upgrades as part of the IT team.
7. Advises department or school and provides them with IT solutions.
8. Approve all IT lease and purchase requests.
9. Other duties as assigned

 

Certification/Skills:

A+, MCSE, and/or MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist) preferred Good communication skills, both verbal and written. MUST have experience with A/V hardware and software 

Minimum Education:

Associate’s degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education.

Minimum Experience:

Three (3) years of related experience. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

Physical Requirements:

Exerts up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds constantly to move objects.
