The University of Virginia’s Facilities Management Department is seeking a Systems Control Center Evening Shift Supervisor to lead a team of operators responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and optimizing the University’s complex building and infrastructure systems. This position plays a vital role in ensuring the safety, reliability, and efficiency of University operations through expert oversight of building automation, energy management, and critical control systems.
This position combines technical leadership with team management. The Supervisor provides mentorship, practical direction, and collaborative coordination across Facilities teams to ensure optimal system performance and timely, informed responses to operational challenges. The ideal candidate brings a balance of hands-on expertise and positive forward-looking influence, fostering a culture of safety, learning, and continuous improvement.
Responsibilities:
Lead and mentor Systems Control Center Operators in real-time monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization of building automation and energy management systems.
Provide technical guidance and escalation support for complex control issues involving HVAC, electrical, and life safety systems.
Analyze system data, trends, and alarms to diagnose issues, identify root causes, and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with specialty and maintenance trades to enhance system performance and implement energy-efficient control strategies.
Prioritize and coordinate responses to operational events, ensuring timely communication and effective problem resolution.
Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and professional development within the Control Center team.
Represent the Systems Control Center in interactions with internal partners, contractors, and emergency response teams.
Champion innovation and continuous improvement, seeking opportunities to advance automation strategies and system integration capabilities.
Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent
Four years of experience with controls, mechanical, or electrical systems and experience in a customer service-oriented environment. Demonstrated experience leading formal or informal teams preferred.
Selected candidates must successfully complete all required background checks prior to the first day of employment.
Compensation:
The Anticipated Hiring Range for this position is $42 - $45/hour ($87,360 - $93,600 Annually). Hours for this position are primarily evening/night shift and it's eligible for differential pay. This is a full-time position with UVA benefits. Employee benefits package highlights include:

Physical Demands:
