Description
The Engineer will work in a global, cross-business team responsible for our clients Advanced Applications Nuclear Systems Engineering function. They will provide technical guidance, resources and training needed to ensure high quality deliverables in accordance with customer requirements, business procedures and regulatory agency guidelines. This position will coordinate the efforts of the CRD System Design Team.
Write and develop design documentation including design basis documents, technical reports, calculations, and drawings in accordance with applicable procedures
Provide ASME Code expertise consulting to enhance Engineering capabilities and certifications (to include ASME N stamp Construction of Section III, Division 1 components &
Section III, Division 5 metallic components and ASME Section VIII Division 1 U Certificate for Manufacture of pressure vessels) necessary for structural component design and construction activities
Planning and performing analysis required to assess aspects of the SSCs to ensure they can perform their intended functions and meet technical specifications and design requirements
Support the assessment of SSCs for manufacturability as well as assembly and integration considerations at the direction of project leads
Visualize and develop various load cases with different operating scenarios (dynamic and static) which include all physical properties of the pressure retaining component as applicable
Responsible for development of mechanical component design requirements, design reports, data reports, purchase requirements of metallic components
Perform computations utilizing hand calculations and analytical tools for structural, thermal, hydraulic, and other scoping calculations as required at the direction of project leads and systems engineers to ensure SSCs can meet technical requirements
Support development stress classification and development of load combinations for analysis of vessels and other components using ASME Section III Division 5 and Section VIII Division 1 and 2
Perform work in accordance with client quality procedures for design and configuration management to ensure project quality requirements are met
Provide independent reviews and acceptance reviews of engineering deliverables and data in accordance with client quality program
Preform duties as Responsible Charge for Pressure Vessel designs per Section VIII Division 1 or provide supervisory direction and control authority over the design activities being performed for Pressure Vessel designs per Section VIII Division 1
Preferably have working knowledge of fatigue, corrosion and high temperature creep life assessment using finite element analyses (Ansys preferred) to meet latest codes and standard requirements
Liaison with internal and external manufacturing teams and resolve technical issues and improve constructability
Witness manufacturing, sign design and data reports, maintain liaison with authorized inspection agency

Basic Qualifications:
Minimum BSME, BS Materials Science, BSNE, or closely-related, accredited, four-year degree.
Minimum of four (4) years of varied ASME application experience, at least two (2) years of which have been in each specialty field for which performing certifying or review activities as delineated in ASME Section III, Appendix XXIII-1230 through XXIII-1270 or ASME Section VIII, Division 1, Appendix 47, as applicable, in accordance with qualification procedures
Practical experience with application of ASME BPVC Section III Division 1, Section VIII, or B31.1/B31.3 is required.
Desired
Experience with ASME BPVC Section III, Division 5 and active participation in ASME committee proceedings highly preferred
Able to perform duties as Certifying Engineer in accordance with ASME Section III, Appendix XXIII-1230 through XXIII-1270
Professional Eng (PE) License (required) in state of North Carolina (preferred)

The pay range for this position is $65.00 - $90.00/hr.
