We have an exciting opportunity for a Systems Engineer\: Docking System Requirements and Verification to join the team.
The Systems Engineer\: Docking System Requirements and Verification will\:
Maintain existing and help create new requirement trace tools to manage compliance, flow down, and equivalency of program requirements to various provide and/or project requirements. Research program and project requirements to find docking related requirement flow down and equivalency. Analyze partner and provider requirements to assess conflicts, gaps, and adequate flow down and decomposition of the NASA program requirements. Preparation of variances, exceptions and/or waivers to NASA requirements. Assist in the planning, development, review, and maintenance of requirements and verification plans, products, and closures. Prepare materials for system life cycle milestones, including SRR (System Readiness Review), Preliminary Design Reviews (PDR), Critical Design Review (CDR), and Hardware Acceptance Reviews, and Flight Readiness Reviews. Track vendor submitted data, such as verification closure notices, and status of NASA's review. Compile interface requirement content for docking systems installed on vehicles as well as between docking vehicles and manage their implementation. Participate and/or lead working groups to resolve technical issues, requirement disconnects, facilitate changes, etc. Work in a team environment and report to the team lead to provide status on progress and issues. Maintain a professional relationship with the NASA customer and other NASA support contractors. Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in Engineering and a minimum of 2-5 years of experience in the field or in a related area. Strong verbal and written communication skills, including\: Preparation of written review packages Summary reports status and/or metrics Create requirement, interface definition, and/or verification content Ability to work in a cross-discipline team to collect input for and obtain approval of requirement and verification content. Some experience with NASA, or similar program, requirement and verification management. Ability to track multiple tasks and prioritize work independently. Self-motivation and quick learner to adapt to the broad array of subjects and issues. Proficient in Microsoft Office Word and Excel, familiarity with Sharepoint and requirement management databases.Requisition Preferences\:
BS degree in Systems, Mechanical, or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited engineering school. Knowledge and work experience in a Systems Engineering role in a NASA, DoD, or Aerospace environment or a desire to transition to a systems engineering role, especially with complex or multi-discipline systems. Experience with, or working knowledge of, aerospace docking systems and docking operations Familiarity with Orion, Commercial Crew, Shuttle, Gateway, and/or International Space Station design development, certification, and delivery life cycle processes. Familiarity with NASA JSC Flight Hardware Life Cycle, Certification, and Engineering processes Experience with requirements development, flow down, and management. Experience with verification and validation definition, execution, and closure.
