Amyx is seeking to hire a Systems Engineer to support the DoE OCFO Domain and Functional Support Services contract in Germantown, MD.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that the DOE environment is running the latest release of the software to include scheduled and emergency releases, running scripts to update the database as required by the application and conducting/coordinating testing internally and with the Payroll Team. In addition, work with the CF database administrator to ensure that ATAAPS application functions properly as Oracle upgrades and patches are applied. Work with the UNIX system administrator is also performed to ensure that current software is deployed and functioning properly in the Apache Tomcat environment.

 

On a biweekly basis, work with the Payroll Team to process the DOE Time and Attendance records that are the basis for DOE employee pay. The process involves generation of the files, processing the files on the mainframe and multiple file transfer steps to ensure that the files are received by DFAS in Indianapolis for final payroll processing.

In addition the succesful candidate will need to provide Tier II support to the Help Desk and act as the primary point-of-contact between the DOE and ATAAPS technical teams.

 

Mainframe Support

Many of the DOE Payroll and Personnel processes run on the mainframe in the Germantown Computer Center – those processes are supported by the systems engineers. Responsible for the ensuring that all nightly, biweekly, quarterly and annual processes run correctly and also, for modifying and maintaining the associated JCL, COBOL, Oracle Utility, and file transfer processes.

Specific functions include (limited list):

Processing the nightly file of Personnel transactions from the Corporate Human Resources Information System (CHRIS) and transferring files to DFAS via the Secure File Gateway (SFG) in Mechanicsburg.Loading of DOEInfo tables to include updates to workforce, locator, SF-7 and SF-50 and other core tables.Produce and deliver data extracts to DOE orgs and outside agencies.Retrieve and process all biweekly payroll files from DFAS.

 

Year-end Payroll Processing

Payroll – Ad-hoc duties will include:

Process Monthly Department of Transportation SEET DataProcess Quarterly Federal Employee Workforce Report for Bureau of Labor StatsProcess Quarterly Imputed Cost for Health BenefitsProcess Permanent Change Of Station Tax Data – as requestedProcess Thrift Savings Plan Data – as requestedBiweekly Sal-Ben and Manpower Process

 

File Transfer Processes

Responsible for working with the firewall and network teams locally and at partner sites.The file transfer processes can vary from site to site and require close coordination and modification to create successful and secure connections.

 

On the Horizon

Working with the CF DBA test the DOE mainframe jobs in conjunction with the Oracle 12c database upgrade – significant effort.DOE is currently in the process of replacing the current production mainframe with a newer Z/OS machine.Work with the DOE Systems Programmer to ensure that all code is ported, tested and output is verified as accurate for all DOE mainframe processes – major effort.


Provide consulting to agency heads, directors, and senior managers on quality improvement, ISO9000 certification, business process reengineering and strategic implementation of information technology techniques. Designs, organizes, leads, and conducts executive level workshops, benchmarking, and survey

 

Qualifications

Required:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Management, Accounting or other related disciplineminimum of 6 years of intensive and progressive experienceMust have the ability to effectively communicate in a written and verbal manner
