Systems Engineer
Overview Juncos Hollinger Racing is seeking a dedicated and skilled Systems Engineer to join our team! Responsibilities Position Summary: The systems engineer is part of the engineering group and will report directly to the lead systems engineer. The role of systems engineer is vital to the efficient and effective performance of the team. The engineer will primarily work in the team workshop, but also travel to all races and test events and rig tests. Key Responsibilities: Responsibilities: In preparation for an event the systems engineer will: · Ensure that on board electronic and electrical systems are functional, calibrated and programmed to perform accurately and reliably. · Ensure correct installation and function of voice and data communications to the car and on the timing stand prior to and during events. · Ensure that Series’ required communication equipment and sensors are functional and reliable. · Contribute to the pre-event planning of events by collecting and documenting historical and other event relevant data and attending planning meetings and briefings. During events the systems engineer will: · Monitor vital engine and on-car systems functions, and in case of issues report them immediately to the lead systems engineer or race engineers – offering potential solutions based on analysis of the data. · Prepare, program and install replacement sensors / systems components as required. · Assist in the setup up of the timing stand communications and systems in the pitlane. Including connection and checking of monitors, cameras and radio / intercom systems. · Contribute data towards the strategy preparation and prepare data which may be required to share with engine, tire and other partners and suppliers. · Assist in the download and processing of videos from pitlane and the car. During the race the Systems Engineer will monitor on-car systems for correct function of the car and specific performance related metrics which are to be communicated to the engineers to enhance performance and strategy. Post event, the Systems Engineer will contribute data and input on the performance of the team and competitors as part of the post event reporting process. This will include timing and scoring reports, pitstop reports and data to support the engineering group. As part of the engineering group, the Systems Engineer will be expected to contribute to the constant improvement and development of team performance and provide input in problem solving both in the shop and at the track. Physical Requirements and Body Mechanics: As part of our Indy racing team, this role involves physically demanding tasks that require strength, coordination, and safe body mechanics. Candidates must be able to: Lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds frequently and occasionally heavier loads, utilizing proper lifting techniques to prevent strain or injury. Demonstrate the ability to perform repetitive motions including bending, kneeling, and twisting, especially in tight or confined spaces, while maintaining proper posture and body mechanics. Safely handle tools, equipment, and racing components, ensuring ergonomic handling to minimize risks of musculoskeletal injuries. Be prepared to work in a fast-paced environment, often in varying weather conditions, while adhering to safety protocols related to body positioning and movement. Proper body mechanics are critical to maintaining the safety and performance of our team. Training in safe lifting techniques and ergonomic practices will be provided to support team members' well-being.
