Job Title: Systems Engineer
Job Description

The Systems Engineer will support unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms and unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate will develop requirements, create system design documentation, maintain existing analytical models, develop new models, and plan and conduct tests to validate requirements. This role involves cradle-to-grave project involvement from definition and design to testing.

ResponsibilitiesAnalyze customer and stakeholder requirements, decompose and derive requirements, and allocate them to system and subsystem elements.Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.Develop test plans, test cases, and reports based on requirements documentation.Create system and subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.Lead and conduct testing as applicable.Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of moderately complex engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer requirements.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.5 - 7 years of industry experience.Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher.Experience developing system requirements and architecture in conjunction with engineering team.Self-directed with sharp analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.Capable of working effectively in a dynamic environment with technical leadership capabilities.Results-oriented with a sense of ownership, urgency, and drive.Experience working within the Defense and/or Aerospace industry.Experience in aircraft systems is required; experience in unmanned aircraft systems is a plus.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience in operational test execution and exposure to schematics and Cameo.Knowledge of systems engineering methodologies such as the V-Model.Experience with tools such as DOORS, Atlassian products, and requirements management tools.Work Environment

The work environment involves various locations, including Indianapolis/Alabama, Round Rock, Arlington, OKC, Sacramento, Oxford, and Tehachapi, CA. Some roles may involve up to 50% travel, with up to 75% travel during testing phases. Specific locations like Dallas require strong software and hardware test experience to support embedded development teams. The Sacramento location includes a SCIF facility. Candidates may need to travel up to 25% of the time, particularly if based in Austin or Arlington, with potential travel to California, Oklahoma, North Dakota, and Alabama. The role offers a long-term project with the opportunity to transition to a permanent position for the right fit.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
