Job Description:

A Systems Engineer will provide day-to-day management of virtualization server technologies in Epiq’s global datacenters, and will assist in the design and implementation of projects related to physical and virtual server infrastructure. Additionally, candidates should have experience performing VM migrations from one platform to another. This position requires L3 knowledge of VMware products in enterprise environments with 4000+ servers. Knowledge of Windows Server and Linux operating systems is required. Automation skills highly preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Deployment, management, upgrades, and support of VMware technologiesAdministration of VMWare vSphere 7.x and 8.x environments.Administration of ESX, DRS, HA, vSwitches, etc.Complex troubleshooting of VMware related issuesAbility to use esxtop for console troubleshootingUtilize VMware PowerCLI and PowerShell for scripting/automation of tasksCapacity planning to ensure clusters remain in healthy state of oversubscriptionUse vRealize Operations to generate reports and identify systemic problemsCreate up-to-date documentation for all VMware systemsProvides escalation support for VMware related incidents from L2 engineersProvide thoughtful review and guidance of VMware configurationsIdentify problem trends to improve the overall dependability of the environment and meet appropriate Service Level AgreementsCoordinate vendor activity and support as an escalation point for issues

Education, Experience and/or Skills Required:

Minimum of 5+ years VMware enterprise level experienceExpert level (L3) technical knowledge of VMware technologiesVMware Certification (VCP) preferred.Experience designing and implementing VM migration plansExperience migrating VMs from one virtualization platform to anotherExperience working in a lights-out enterprise class datacenterGood communication skills, both verbal and writtenWorking knowledge of ITIL and ITSM methodsAbility to mentor and teach team membersWindows Server and Linux experience strongly recommendedKnowledge of open source virtualization solutions based on KVM optional. #LI-Remote #LI-KS1

The Compensation range for this role is 71,592.30 - 143,185.20 USD annually and may be eligible for an annual bonus. Actual compensation within that range will be dependent upon the individual's location, skills, experience and qualifications.
