Job Summary:

Our client in Dearborn, MI is looking for a Systems Engineer Controls. This is a contract position.

What You Will Do:

Seeking a seasoned Senior Engineer with expertise in Design & Release Engineering within the automotive industry, specializing in ECU (Electronic Control Unit) software releases. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of system engineering principles, hands-on experience in the release process of ECU software, and the agility of a launch engineer. This role requires a strategic thinker with the ability to work with complex cross-functional teams and deliver high-quality automotive solutions in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.

Basics:

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in automotive engineering, specifically in Design & Release and ECU software management. Proven experience in the full software release lifecycle within automotive systems (ECU, embedded systems). Strong knowledge of system engineering processes, functional safety standards (ISO 26262), and automotive architectures. Experience working in agile project environments, with a focus on timely product delivery and issue resolution. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with a demonstrated ability to collaborate across multiple engineering disciplines. Previous experience in launch engineering or managing product launches within the automotive sector.Hybrid position. Design & Release Engineering: Led the design and release process of ECU software within automotive projects, ensuring compliance with industry standards and customer requirements. Coordinated with cross-functional teams (hardware, software, and validation) to ensure the successful release of ECU software. Oversaw technical documentation, design reviews, and change management throughout the product lifecycle. ECU Software Development & Release: Interfaced with software development teams to ensure robust integration, functionality, and performance of ECU software. Identified and resolved any software-related issues that may arise during development, integration, or post-launch phases. System Engineering: Collaborated with system engineers to design and integrate complex systems within automotive ECUs. Ensure that software and hardware components work seamlessly within the overall vehicle architecture. Launch Engineering & Agility: Managed the launch of new automotive products, ensuring that the ECU software is integrated into the final product efficiently and effectively. Adapt to rapidly changing requirements and resolved issues on-the-fly to ensure successful product launches. Worked closely with production, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth software implementation and timely delivery of ECU releases, including coordinated releases. Cross-functional Collaboration: Liaision with internal and external stakeholders to ensure alignment on software requirements, design updates, and testing schedules. Drove continuous improvement efforts within the team, sharing best practices and lessons learned from previous releases.
