The MITRE Naval Aviation Systems Department’s (N233) mission is to advance Naval Aviation solutions with urgency ensuring warfighter dominance against current and future adversaries in defense of our nation. This is accomplished by delivering timely, effective, and sustainable capabilities to ensure the warfighter’s mission success and safe return home. This position will primarily support work in the Nuclear, Command and Control and Communications (NC3) environment.
Roles & Responsibilities:
The Naval Aviation department is seeking an end-to-end systems engineer in Lexington Park, MD. The candidate will serve as the engineering interface and trusted advisor to the sponsor for requirements prioritization, risk reduction, acquisition of a new Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3) aircraft, and its mission systems and capabilities. The candidate will be expected to collaborate with the Nuclear Enterprise and understand NC3 operations and new platform integration. They will tackle technical and integration challenges in the fielding and operational use of these systems. The candidate will use their skillset in systems engineering to provide sponsors with the expertise necessary to deliver resilient, integrated, and critical operational mission systems. This is a position that requires interaction and collaboration with multiple sponsors, project and task leaders, and a team of multi-disciplined engineers and SMEs geographically dispersed across the United States.
Basic Qualifications:
Typically, Bachelor's degree in systems engineering or similar engineering/STEM field with 5 years of related experience; or a master’s degree and 3 years with relevant experience; or equivalent education and experienceAn active Secret clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a Top-Secret/Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI) clearance within one yearTechnical experience in systems engineering, with a focus on any of the following: Nuclear Command, Control and Communications (NC3), enterprise architecture, cyber, digital engineering/model-based systems engineering, communications/networking, agile integration approaches, and DoD acquisition programsExperience in end-to-end system lifecycle development, design, testing, integration, and deployment of operational mission systemsExperience in system integration, system-of-systems engineering, and operational employment of DoD systems/capabilitiesFlexible systems thinker with the ability to quickly deliver results and achieve impactful outcomesWorking knowledge of enterprise engineering, architecture and system interfacesKnowledge and experience with acquisition lifecycle and processes across DoD, civil, and commercial agenciesEffective communication skills, collaboration, strategic thinking, and interpersonal skillsThis position requires a minimum of 50% hybrid on-site presence.Preferred Qualifications:
