Systems Engineer I Business Unit United Wholesale Mortgage Location US-MI-Pontiac  

As a Linux Administrator at UWM, you will be responsible for maintaining and improving our robust Red Hat Enterprise Linux-based (RHEL) infrastructure. We count on our Linux Administrators to keep our systems secure, efficient, and up-to-date. You will play a crucial role in ensuring our business processes run smoothly and our internal customers remain satisfied.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING Install, configure, and maintain Linux operating systems, servers, and softwareAssist in server migrations to newer major versions of RHEL and adhere to security standards and compliance requirementsMonitor system performance and ensure system securityPerform regular system patching using Red Hat Satellite and troubleshoot issues as neededParticipate in disaster recovery planning and testingCollaborate with other IT professionals to ensure seamless and efficient operationsProvide technical support and guidance to usersDocument system configurations and changesParticipate in on-call rotation for after-hours support. WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

Must Have Qualifications:

1-3 years of experience in Linux administrationStrong understanding of Linux OS, shell scripting, and networking conceptsFamiliarity with server hardware and virtualization technologiesExcellent problem-solving and multitasking skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsBS or BA degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience

Nice to Have Qualifications:

Mortgage and/or Financial Services industry experienceCertifications such as RHCSA (Red Hat Certified System Administrator) are a plusExperience with automation tools and scripting languagesFamiliarity with security principles and implementing security protocolsExperience with cloud technologiesExperience with Kubernetes and Docker
