Systems Engineer - Low Voltage Performance
Job Description

Work Arrangement:

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Milford, MI or Warren, MI three times a week, at minimum.

The Role:

The Low Voltage Infrastructure Team within the Embedded Platform Systems & Infrastructure organization is focused on the development of systems and controls centered around on-vehicle low voltage power generation, energy storage, power management, distribution, and consumption on ICE, EV and PHEV vehicle platforms. There is no better time to join this domain as we evolve to the next generation of low voltage power strategy, innovation, and capability in current product VIP and the next generation on SDV2.0.

As a Systems Engineer for Low Voltage Performance, your technical expertise in low voltage power consumption will be leveraged throughout the entire vehicle development life cycle, including requirements, design, testing, and problem resolution. You will drive GM’s industry leadership of optimized low voltage consumption by defining low voltage energy consumption use cases, setting consumption targets, analyzing and driving reductions in power consumption for complex devices and features, and assessing competitor low voltage consumption performance.

What You'll Do:

Analyze 12V performance data from the field and from test properties.

Own the total power consumption performance of complex components and electronic control units, working on consumption reduction and optimization activities across organizations.

Work with systems functional engineers to ensure traceability of system requirements and targets to hardware subsystems.

Analyze and summarize status to energy consumption targets based on use cases.

Analyze competitive performance with respect to power consumption reduction and optimization strategies. Drive action to the appropriate organizations to address gaps.

Engineer solutions in power consumption estimation and power reduction techniques; support component and feature owners as needed to analyze and meet targets.

Work through complex trade-off decisions, buy-offs, and escalation of power consumption issues with vehicle and product teams.

Drive the change management for solutions to power consumption issues through the organization using Jira and Epics.

Own the low voltage systems requirements workflow process in Jira
