This position is in the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. SSD develops next-generation concepts and systems to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably.

This position is part of the Core Formulation Team within the Space Systems Development (SSD) business unit. Systems Engineers provide architecture and system definition and modeling, concept exploration, and mission design expertise to the broader Core Formulation Team: a multidisciplinary group of systems thinkers capable of versatile analysis with an emphasis on speed, technical credibility, adaptability, and contextual analysis. The team operates in a fast-paced agile process to sequentially nurture ideas and formulate early concepts into next-generation technologies, systems, and programs to advance our future of living and working in space sustainably. Responsibilities:
Provide technical direction and support to support rapid definition, analysis, and evaluation of architecture and system concepts, trade studies, and technical roadmapsProvide technical direction and support in developing concept of operations, requirements, and functional architecture definition.Provide technical direction and support defining configuration and sizing for a diverse range of system applications; including block diagrams, interface documents, mass & power equipment lists, etc.Provide technical direction and support in support of Formulation ongoing sprint cycle planning and/or execution.Provide technical review of work across the entire formulation project portfolio.Embody the Blue Origin leadership principles.Identify and fix gaps in existing processes, tools, infrastructure, and continually improve solutions along the way.Utilization of collaboration tools such as (but not limited to) JIRA, Confluence, and SharePoint.Minimum Qualifications:
Undergraduate degree in Systems Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.2+ years relevant industry Systems Engineering experience.Working domain knowledge in one or more traditional aerospace subsystems.Demonstrated experience either in academia or industry using AI tools to perform engineering analysis and a deep knowledge of this rapidly advancing field.Experience in multidisciplinary development projects, including managing requirements and priorities.Ability to work independently and as part of cross-disciplinary engineering teams on rapid development programs.Exhibit excellent judgement and be comfortable making high-quality and high-velocity decisions with as yet under-developed mandates and goals.Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.Highly organized team player with excellent technical communication skills (written and verbal).Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred Qualifications:
M.S. or PhD degree in Aerospace Engineering, or related technical field.1+ years experience working in a fast-paced concept development environment.Experience conducting advanced design and analysis to meet the optimal performance of subsystems and systems.Experience conducting trade studies that successfully balance performance margins, resource use, risk, cost, and schedule.Experience in full life-cycle development of spacecraft and/or space-flight systems.Compensation Range for:
CO applicants is $88,440.00-$123,816.00;WA applicants is $96,480.00-$135,072.00Other site ranges may differ
