GDIT is looking for a Systems Integration Engineer to design, test, and integrate solutions for activities and projects for the USCENTCOM Information Technology Services (CITS) Program supporting the USCENTCOM J6 in Tampa, FL. The position resides in the Digital Transformation Team J6, and the primary focus is to explore, assess, and recommend innovative solutions, which may include products, services, ideas, methods, or approaches to address the requirements of the U.S. CENTCOM Commander and the Director J6.
Duties and Responsibilities: As a Systems Integration Engineer for the CITS Program you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and testing solutions that align to projects and initiatives. Leveraging your expertise in systems architecture and integration methodologies, you will collaborate closely with U.S. CENTCOM Executive Leaders and cross-functional teams to ensure the successful research, design, and deployment of emerging technologies. The Systems Engineer will conduct new technology assessments, Proofs of Concepts, Pilots, software/hardware testing, system engineering, and integration. Provides subject matter expertise on improving theater and HQ enterprise network operational capabilities in support of the USCENTCOM Commander’s priorities though implementation of disciplined program, project, and engineering processes. Additionally, designs and delivers IT engineering projects, initiatives, and processes in conformance with the organization's established policies, procedures, and objectives.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Collaborate closely with U.S. CENTCOM leadership to understand their requirements and design integrated solutions that achieve functional and performance objectives.
- Conduct research and analysis to evaluate trends and best practices in IT innovation, presenting findings to stakeholders.
- Develop integration plans and strategies, outlining the sequence of tasks and dependencies.
- Collaborate with vendors, software developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to develop cost modeling, product feasibility, and suitability.
- Perform comprehensive testing and validation of integrated systems, identifying and addressing any functionality or performance issues.
- Document integration processes, including system design specifications, dependency mapping, user guides and troubleshooting procedures.
- Provide technical support and assistance during deployment and post-deployment phases of operations, addressing any integration-related issues or concerns.
- Develop and manage proof-of-concept projects to test and validate new technologies and methodologies.
- Work with the CSI Lead and evaluate impacts of recommended initiatives and projects and drive delivery of advanced IT Service Management processes and tooling solutions that meet the customers use cases.
- Configure hardware and software for deployment and operation within enterprise networks.
- Lead brainstorming sessions and workshops to generate creative ideas and foster a culture of innovation within the team.
Education and/or Certifications:
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, or a related field of study and at least 8 years of experience
- Applicable DoD 8140 or DoD 8570 Certification
Desired:
- Master’s Degree with a focus in computer science, engineering, or a related field of study
-Professional Level Vendor/Industry Certifications (Splunk/Riverbed/MS/RedHat/VMWare)
-Agile Based Certifications
- ITIL 4 Foundation Certification
Required Skills:
- Performing systems planning and integration
- Expanding and/or modifying established systems to serve new purposes or improve workflow
- Working with Microsoft, Linux, and/or virtual environment based systems
- Preparing cost estimations, function/timeline analysis, data flow diagrams, and program/user documentation
- Gathering, analyzing, and translating complex requirements into system design specifications
Desired Skills:
- Experience in supporting Combatant Commands, Military Branch Research Facilities and the Intel Community
- Knowledge and familiarity with U.S. CENTCOM’s IT environment and its mission
Clearance Requirement:
- Active TS/SCI clearance required.
