100% REMOTE Systems Safety Engineer

Job Description

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Safety Engineer with a specialization in Avionic System Development and experience in supporting System Level Safety Assessment Processes and Analysis Methods.

ResponsibilitiesSupport avionic system development and ensure compliance with safety standards such as DO-178C and DO-254.Conduct system safety analysis methodologies, including FHA, FTA, PSSA, SSA, and FMEA/FMECA.Participate in software and hardware requirement reviews to address safety impacts.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to effectively communicate complex safety concepts.Ensure adherence to US DoD and FAA certification processes for avionics and safety-critical systems.Support both commercial and military safety programs, including IAW SAE ARP4761A and US DoD MIL-STD-882E.Prepare and maintain technical documentation and reports.Essential SkillsBachelor’s or Master’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.5+ years of experience in systems and safety engineering within the avionics industry.Experience with system safety programs and risk assessment processes in accordance with SAE ARP4761A and US DoD MIL-STD-882E.Knowledge of DO-178C and DO-254 standards.Proficiency in system safety analysis methodologies such as FHA, FTA, PSSA, SSA, and FMEA/FMECA.Familiarity with US DoD and FAA certification processes for avionics and safety-critical systems.Strong problem-solving, analytical, and technical writing skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a cross-functional team.Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience working with transponders, ADS-B, or Mode S systems.Familiarity with System Safety Management Plan (SSMP) V3.0 for PM with Reliability & Maintainability (R&M) activities.Understanding of cybersecurity considerations for avionics systems.Prior experience interfacing with regulatory authorities on certification efforts.Work Environment

The position is 100% remote with a 9/80 work schedule. The role involves working on aerospace and defense projects, adhering to ITAR requirements.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $55.00 - $65.00/hr.
