Transmission Field Services T-line Field Engineers are located across the AEP TFS Line Regions to provide technical support to internal TFS Line crews and to act as a liaison between TFS, Transmission Line Engineering, and other departments across the organization. Responsible to the assigned supervisor for performing intermediate level engineering work activities and projects requiring the application of engineering knowledge in a safe, effective, efficient, and economic accomplishment of assigned objectives. **Job Description** Based on education, experience and interview, this opportunity will be filled commensurately at **any title in the Engineer job family** . Minimum requirements are written at the lowest grade. We’re powering the future – today!** **Basic Job Functions:** + This position serves to apply engineering and technical skillsets to assist the T-Line areas in the execution of T-Line work plans including large scale capital projects, maintenance projects, inspections, and other tasks as required. + The Field Engineers will interact regularly with frontline construction crews on job sites and at offices and should be comfortable in a dynamic field environment. + Field Engineers will support crews in various capacities including but not limited to specifying and ordering material, supporting new process and tool implementation, managing emergency material stock, engaging in new technological opportunities, supporting the implementation of UAS (drones), and assisting in major storm response as required. + The Field Engineers act as Subject Matter Experts regarding Transmission Line construction means and methods as well as Engineering standards and design principles and how they apply to construction activities. **Technical Expertise:** + Possesses journey level knowledge of Transmission Lines and perform varied assignments with proficiency in the application of theory and analytical techniques to solve diverse problems and complete extensive analysis. + Exhibits ability to understand interrelationship between transmission lines and all associated components. + Demonstrate ability to analyze and recommend enhancements to business processes. + Keeps abreast of new products, developments, technologies, procedures and equipment. + Perform other duties as assigned. **Leadership and Guidance:** + Coordinates with others within the work group, department, or other corporate entity as necessary to complete routine activities. + Performs routine engineering activity with minimal direction from higher-level employees. + Ensures all work activities are performed in accordance with the policies, practices, standards and rules of the company and complies with the regulations and procedures required by external agencies. + Promotes engineering professionalism and standards. + Provides training and guidance to lower-level employees. **Planning and Organizational Ability:** + Participates in the development of plans by establishing measurable goals, objectives and requirements for specific areas of responsibility. + Coordinates the development of input necessary to develop scopes and preliminary estimates for Transmission projects and improvement requisitions. + Initiates corrective action when project objectives are not being met + Documents ongoing tasks and assignments and maintains consistent communication with team members. **Problem Solving and Initiative:** + Identifies, clarifies, resolves, and initiates solutions to routine and/or complex problems that sometimes involve analysis of inadequate or conflicting data + Demonstrates competency in analytical techniques necessary to handle assignments of moderate complexity. + Demonstrates ability and desire to seek out opportunities and embrace new ideas and approaches. **Communication:** + Leads and facilitates meetings effectively. + Coordinates with other professionals through multiple communication channels to ensure work is completed in a timely fashion. + Develops, reviews, or presents technical reports such as improvement requisitions, studies, and Company’s Corporate Compliance Policy. **Other:** + Demonstrated leadership ability in previous assignments + A thorough knowledge of the transmission system + Proficient with MS Office Tools + Ability to interact/communicate effectively with construction personnel and engineering personnel. + Ability to comprehend complex situations and make decisions based on varying inputs. + **Some overnight travel required.** + **Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license** . + **Some night/weekend/overtime work** **required.** **Basic Qualifications:** **Engineer (Grade 06-07):** Has typically acquired two-four (2-4) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*. _*Individuals with a Master's degree in engineering from an engineering program accredited by ABET* may be considered for entry into the organization at a grade 06 level._ *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. **Acceptable alternatives are:** + a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. OR + a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. **Engineer Sr (Grade 08):** Has typically acquired six (6) or more years of related engineering experience along with a Bachelor's degree in engineering in a program accredited by ABET*; or 4 years of related engineering experience along with a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a program accredited by ABET* + Registration as a Professional Engineer (PE) in any U.S. state or Puerto Rico** is encouraged and preferred. *ABET - Engineering Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. **Acceptable alternatives are:** + a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET), plus a Professional Engineers (PE) license in any state of the U.S. OR + a Bachelor's degree in engineering (non-ABET) plus a Master's degree or PhD in engineering from a university with an ABET accredited Bachelor's program. ** Confirmation is required to ensure the PE obtained in Puerto Rico aligns with NCEES standards. **Salary Ranges-** Engineer (Grade 6)- $72.380- 90,474. Engineer (Grade 7)- $ 85,081- 106,353.
