Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This National Guard position is for aT5 INDUSTRIAL HYGIENE TECHNICIAN, Position Description Number PDT5429000 and is part of theSC MED COMMAND, South Carolina Army National Guard. Responsibilities ***This is a Title 5 National Guard Employee position description.*** This position is located in the Office of the State Surgeon, Deputy State Surgeon, Occupational Health Office, Joint Force Headquarters-State. The purpose of the work is to plan, schedule, execute, manage and administer the ARNG Industrial Hygiene Program for a state, territory, or district to maintain and promote the health of military and technician personnel. Coordinates with the National Guard Bureau (NGB) Regional Industrial Hygienist (IH) who works for the NGB Office of the Chief Surgeon. Work performed by Health aids and technicians includes sub professional medical duties such as the administration of medications, rendering emergency treatment, performing medical tests and examinations, etc. Other work performed by Health aids and technicians may include achieving and maintaining Force Health Protection through planning, evaluating, and management principles related to epidemiological, operational, and occupational and public health programs. The duties vary with the type of assignment and grade of the position. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications AREA OF CONSIDERATION (AOC): This is a Title 5 "Excepted Service " position under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA)", and is open to US citizens interested in helping the Department of the Army meet our mission requirements. Area of Consideration: This position is open to All Areas. Area 1: Current employees (Tenure 1 and 2 / internal to the Agency) Area 2: All other applicants (external to the Agency) GENERAL EXPERIENCE: All positions except Reporting Stenographer, Shorthand Reporter, and Closed Micro-phone Reporter)--Progressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: 1-year equivalent to at least next lower grade level. Education Substitution of Education for Specialized Experience - Completion of 2 academic years of education in an accredited college or university will satisfy the requirements for GS-4 positions. Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience for GS-5 positions.
