Reporting to the Lead, Campus Talent Acquisition, the Talent Acquisition Advisor, Early Talent is responsible for advancing Teck’s commitment to providing outstanding early career opportunities and experiences for students and apprentices while working closely with supervisors, academic institutions, and students to ensure an effective recruitment process and sustainment of healthy talent pipelines. This role requires a passionate individual with a keen interest in talent acquisition and student development, ensuring that both employers and students experience a seamless, positive recruitment process.
The Advisor will also identify, recommend and implement strategies that improve campus talent attraction including leading outreach efforts, engaging with students, faculty and advisors on and off campus in activities such as career fairs, student industry events, and hosting events that promote Teck as an employer of choice for students.
ResponsibilitiesBe a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
Strategize, plan and perform full-cycle recruitment for early talent across various fields (e.g., engineering, geology, business, etc.) from posting to onboarding
Partner with hiring managers to understand their needs and ensure job descriptions align with role requirements and reflect longer term early talent needs
Lead outreach by identifying strategic opportunities to engage, followed by planning, organizing and hosting recruitment events such as career fairs and virtual / in-person information sessions
Conduct preliminary assessments to evaluate candidate competencies and ensure alignment with Teck’s business needs and values
Ensure outstanding candidate and hiring team experience by providing timely feedback and information on next steps
Research, develop and present early talent strategies that are consistent with Teck’s business needs e.g. crafting an early talent strategy for tradespersons
Build and nurture positive relationships with academic institutions, faculty, and career services to ensure a continuous pipeline of exceptional student talent
Be the primary contact for external partners and represent Teck at universities, trade schools, industry and recruitment events and career fairs
Collaborate with internal departments to ensure early talent programs are aligned with Teck’s goals and talent needs
Ensure data integrity by maintaining accurate recruitment records in Teck’s applicant tracking system
Collect feedback from students, apprentices, and supervisors to gauge effectiveness of the co-op program and seek improvement
Support continuous improvement of Teck’s early talent programs by ideating new initiatives and resources that enhance outreach, engagement and demonstrable impact
Report on recruitment statistics and trends, recommend improvements to recruitment strategies based on market and program analysis
Support Teck Student Subsidy Program by collaborating with the CTA Coordinator to identify potential new subsidies in the jurisdictions we operate
Plan and lead internal events such as Co-op Orientation Day and End of Term Presentation Day
QualificationsDegree or Diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, Arts, Communications, or equivalent experience in a related field
6+ years in talent acquisition, primarily for students and early career talent
Prior experience in early career recruitment and outreach is required including considerable experience with program development and execution
Experience developing and implementing early talent strategies for enterprise organizations
Experience in a corporate or mining-related environment is preferred; previous trades experience is a strong asset
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written), with the ability to present, engage and influence a diverse audience
Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities, with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize tasks effectively
Ability to build rapport and maintain positive relationships with both internal teams and external partners
Proficiency with recruitment tools and systems (e.g., ATS, CRM, MS Office suite)
Knowledge of post-secondary and trade education systems across North America
Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute events, including handling logistics, vendors, and timelines to ensure successful outcomes
Experience with developing or implementing early talent attraction strategy for the South American region is valuable but not required
Fluency in Spanish is an asset

Salary Range: $82,000 - $101,000
The actual base salary offered is determined based on the successful candidate’s relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
