Tanium Engineer - Desktop Patching (Supporting US Work Hours)

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Tanium Engineer with expertise in desktop patching to join our IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing, implementing, and optimizing patch management processes across the organization's endpoints using Tanium. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, security, and operational efficiency in desktop systems.

Key Responsibilities:

Patch Management:

Deploy and manage software patches and updates across Windows and macOS desktops using Tanium. Test and validate patches in staging environments before deployment to production systems. Monitor and ensure timely remediation of vulnerabilities through effective patching.

Tanium Administration:

Configure and maintain the Tanium platform for optimal performance in endpoint patching. Create and manage custom scripts, packages, and queries in Tanium to support patching requirements. Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to Tanium modules, particularly Patch and Deploy.

Compliance and Reporting:

Generate and analyze patch compliance reports to ensure endpoints meet organizational and regulatory standards. Provide detailed reporting on patching progress, risks, and gaps to stakeholders.

Collaboration:

Work closely with the Security, IT Operations, and Infrastructure teams to align patching efforts with organizational security policies.

Continuous Improvement:

Evaluate and recommend enhancements to patching workflows and policies.

Qualifications:

Required Skills and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 3+ years of experience with endpoint management and patching, including at least 2 years working with Tanium. Good understanding of Windows and macOS operating systems, particularly in patch management. Familiarity with endpoint security best practices, vulnerability management, and compliance standards. Experience with ITSM tools (e.g., ServiceNow) for ticketing and process workflows.
