As the Tank Supervisor, you will be a vital member at one of our Alaskan processing facilities responsible for overseeing and managing the seafood processing plant's tank operations. Key responsibilities include planning and scheduling production, monitoring product quality, maintaining equipment, and enforcing safety regulations. The supervisor also plays a crucial role in training employees, troubleshooting equipment malfunctions, and coordinating with other departments to optimize workflow. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining accurate records of production, yield, and quality control data.
Essential Functions/Qualifications
The responsibilities of the position include the following:
Regular and effective communication with all departments to maintain an efficient flow of production. Monitor attendance schedule of staff using attendance sheets provided by Production Manager. Trains employees in proper working ergonomics in addition to their assigned tasks and specific techniques. Trains employees on necessary salmon species identification to ensure accurate sorting for the Fish House. Use and basic troubleshooting of product weighing computer system, assignment of vessels to lots designated by Quality Assurance Department. Monitor lot tracking, weighing scale performance, and tank space while setting a consistent pace for production that allows fish house and corresponding departments to excel in productivity. Enforces sanitation practices with Quality Assurance department resulting in the production of a safe product. Other duties as assigned to ensure the facility and organization is fully supported and successful.Competencies

High school diploma or GED equivalent preferred but not required. 2 years’ experience in processing or offloading vessels, as well as bi-lingual in Spanish is a plus. Relevant workplace experience may be a substitute for the above requirements. Experience with process control systems and data analysis.Work Environment and Schedule
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions and extreme cold. The employee is occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; outside weather conditions; risk of electrical shock and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud. Position requires onsite presence at one of our Alaska processing facilities, and the ability to travel, including at times in remote locations.
Physical Demands
This role must be capable of working consecutive, long and variable work shifts for extended periods of time. Shifts typically range from 12 to 16 hours per day with periodic breaks depending on work demands. The work is strenuous and sometimes hazardous due to exposure to operating machinery, mechanical parts, fumes, chemicals, pressurized fluids, vibration and with the vessel operating under all types of weather conditions including extreme cold. This means standing, walking and maintaining balance in rough seas or other types of weather.
