TAR Manager: Electrical, Instrument, and Machinery

Overview:  This position is responsible for leading a team of MPC Electrical, Instrument, and Machinery Leads along with planners and execution coordinators to support all turnaround activity at LAR.  The team is responsible for the planning and execution of E,I,&M related activities of all LAR TAR events as well as planning, integrating and executing engineering project E,I, & M work scope during TAR. The position is located at the Los Angeles Refinery reporting to the LAR TAR and Construction Manager.

 Key Responsibilities:

Provide direct supervision of MPC TAR Electrical, Instrument and Machinery Lead.Support E,I,&M TAR scope development process.Lead E,I,&M team during turnarounds to execute TAR and project construction work scopeManage planning and execution strategy of all E,I,&M equipment and components (i.e. control valves, thermowells, rotating machinery, relief valve, etc.)  Maintain and support E,I,&M contracting strategy alignment with Supply ChainProvide guidance to engineering on project execution strategy for TAR integrationResponsible for interfacing with project construction team to ensure non-TAR/pre-tar work tied to TAR execution is completed.  Interact daily with MPC Area Leads/Coordinators, Project Controls, Planners, Schedulers, Project Managers, and construction contractors to progress construction planning and execution activities.Manages team’s work scope assignments.Participate in project constructability review to provide input to engineering design.Support project controls team in management of contractor hiring plans and productivity issues for E, I & M resourcesDrives compliance of POTP milestones for assigned events. Review work scope approvals (WSAs), request for information (RFIs), iTAR worklist, and P6 primavera schedule on a consistent basis.Monitors schedule progress reports and contractor performance summaries.Manage conflict resolution for issues related to safety, operations, cost or schedule variances, and contractor relations.Validate overall manpower and equipment hiring plans with Area Leads, Project Controls and contractors.Develop temporary power plans for TAR logistics and execution. Manage E,I, &M contract resource manpower leveling and MPC electric, instrument and machinery shop resource support needs.Supervise organization’s adherence of E,I,&M QA/QC, system turnover, and punchlist tracking and closeout processesOversee primavera P6 Electrical, Instrumentation, and Machinery planning operation for TAR and Construction projects.

Qualifications:

Previous supervisor experience is preferredBackground in electrical, instrumentation and/or machinery is requiredStrong communication skillsExperience with P6 Primavera and TAR worklist management software is preferredProficient in Microsoft office applications.Minimum 10 years of experience in refining with electrical, instrumentation and/or machinery aptitude.
