What We Want
Are you ready to be the voice of celebration at our graduation ceremonies?
As the Graduation Announcer, you’ll play a pivotal role in making commencement unforgettable. You’ll be responsible for announcing the names of degree candidates as they cross the stage, including their degree type, college, department, name, and honors. This role requires exceptional public speaking skills, clear verbal communication, and the ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others. You’ll need to maintain a fast pace and adapt to changes in a dynamic, live, large-scale audience environment. Experience in calling or shadowing another caller during a TAMU graduation ceremony is a plus.

Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to the selected hire’s experience

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
+ Familiarization with TAMU commencement production and execution
+ TAMU graduation caller experience
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
+ Background in public speaking in a strong, clear announcing voice
+ Able to multitask and respond quickly in an environment with a live, large-scale audience
+ Proficiency and ease at announcing a variety of names
+ Experience in either public speaking, media broadcasting, sports announcing or some combination of the three
+ Available each term for the duration of commencement ceremonies (May, August, December)
+ Have completed the initial meeting with the Registrar
+ Attend, or have scheduled to attend at least one ceremony to observe another experienced caller execute the process
Responsibilities
Public Speaking
+ Responsible for public speaking and verbal communications for graduation ceremonies
+ Responsible for announcing the names of degree candidates, as they cross the stage during commencement
+ This includes but is not limited to announcing degree type, college, department, and name
Training
+ Each candidate will meet with the Registrar where an explanation is provided on how the ceremonies work and are shown a sample caller list. There will be a follow-up email with the additional explanation of symbols they will encounter on the list(s) so that they are able to recognize and announce them during the ceremonies. Lastly, they will attend a second ceremony where they will be giving a small list of names to announce (note: ceremony will be fully staffed with callers, this will just be to help with the acclimatization)
