Tax Accountant
Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Tax Accountant. This individual will report to the Manager - Tax Compliance and will assist with all tax preparation and logistics for the organization. This includes preparing sales tax returns, partnership tax returns and nonprofit tax returns. The accountant will also assist with tax related compliance assignments for some of the different countries Habitat operates in.

This position will be remotely based in Atlanta, GA.

Key Responsibilities:

- Assist with the preparation of sales and use tax returns.
- Assist with the preparation of income tax returns.
- Assist with other tax filing obligations and analyses.
- Assist with the tax compliance for the New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) deals.
- Assist with the tax compliance for the MicroBuild entity.
- Prepare and file sales and use tax returns ensuring timely payment of all taxes.
- Prepare income tax returns ensuring timely filing (1065, 1120, 990).
- Assist with the preparation of other miscellaneous tax filings (i.e., foreign bank account and NMTC filings).
- Prepare reconciliations of tax accounts.
- Assist with accounting needs in New Market Tax Credit and MicroBuild areas.
- Assist with any financial analyses needed within the finance department.
- Prepare and distribute partnership K-1s.
- Prepare data compilation and analysis for various tax projects.
- Draft correspondence to tax authorities.
- Research tax technical issues and stay current on new tax developments.


Key Requirements:

- Bachelor’s degree.
- At least 2 years of professional experience in the accounting/finance field.
- Basic understanding of U.S. GAAP.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel.

Preferred:

- Prior tax preparation experience.
- Accounting degree.
- Experience with tax compliance software.

The actual salary offered for this role will be based on a variety of factors, including location, internal equity and the candidate’s qualifications and professional experience. HFHI offers a competitive, comprehensive benefits package that varies by country and typically includes vacation leave, sick leave, personal days, health insurance options, retirement plan contributions and life insurance. For work locations in the US, the hiring range for this position is $52,000 to $61,000.
