Pay Rate: $33 Location: Toronto ON Job Type: Contract Our client, a top banking client in Canada is looking to hire a Tax Accountant for their team with a contract until July 2025 with potential extension or conversion to Permanent. This role is fully on-site for their Toronto office.
Typical Day in Role Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge. Reviews tax returns prepared by Tax Administrators, and seasonal staff to ensure completeness and accuracy and to minimize risk. Prepares complex returns by proactively gathering or preparing all relevant supporting documentation, such as income statements, transactions, tax slips, capital gains & losses statements and fees charged. Secondary contact for all clients and partners. May be primary contact for a limited number of assigned clients. Proactively recognizes tax issues as they affect the client's situation and ensures that the clients and our partners are made aware, as appropriate. Understands how the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions. Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas, while ensuring thorough knowledge of, and strict adherence to, the Bank's Global Sales Practices, ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational risk, regulatory compliance risk, AML/ATF risk and conduct risk, including but not limited to responsibilities under the Operational Risk Management Framework, Regulatory Compliance Risk Management Framework, AML/ATF Global Handbook and the Guidelines for Business Conduct. Candidate Requirements/Must Have Skills: 5-7 years experience as a Tax Accountant Prior Experience reviewing tax returns (corporate or personal) Prior experience working in a public accounting firm (small to mid sized business preferred KPMG / PWC for example)
Nice-To-Have Skills: Prior knowledge of Estate/Trust taxes Prior experience managing junior staff
Soft Skills: Strong written and verbal communications High attention to detail Ability to provide feedback to other staff Ability to work in a fast paced environment
