Advise multinational clients on non-US indirect tax matters, including VAT, Goods and Services Tax (GST), Consumption Tax and other similar transaction taxes which are typically experienced by multinational companies when conducting business in foreign jurisdictions. Bridge the gap between what is expected of a company's US tax department and its often limited knowledge of VAT in foreign jurisdictions. Team with EY member firms that have experience in foreign country VAT taxation, structures and solutions. Apply knowledge of the global business challenges companies are facing and how those challenges affect a company's indirect tax position around the world. Research VAT legislation, case law and other VAT guidance to support partners on client engagements and lead educational sessions.
Lead and direct teams of professionals with diverse skills and backgrounds by providing constructive on-the-job feedback/coaching to team members. Develop and maintain long-term client relationships and networks. Manage risk in the delivery of quality client services. Generate and manage new business opportunities.
Full time employment, Monday – Friday, 40 hours per week, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Tax, Law or a related field and 7 years of progressive, post-baccalaureate work experience in Tax. Alternatively, will accept a Master’s degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Tax, Law or a related field and 6 years of work experience in Tax.
Of the required experience, must have 6 years of experience in one of the following: 1) providing VAT/indirect tax advice within the pharmaceuticals, telecommunications, financial services, petrochemicals and/or media and entertainment industries; or 2) VAT/indirect tax analysis working for a government.
Must have 6 years of experience in VAT taxation, including country-specific or multi-jurisdictional VAT consulting, and VAT compliance.
Must have 4 years of experience researching VAT legislation, case law and other guidance, including 2 years of experience leading education sessions on developments in international VAT legislation and case law for internal or external clients.
Must have 4 years of experience interacting with client tax directors or representatives.
Must have 3 year of experience managing tax engagements, including engagement-related budgeting and billing, serving as a primary point of contact for clients, and escalating issues to tax partners or executives as needed.
Must have 3 years of experience supervising junior tax professionals.
Requires travel up to 40%, of which 10% may be international, to serve client needs.
