The Impact
State Tax ComplianceResponsible for the preparation, and processing of the annual premium tax filings and associated complianceResponsible for municipal tax filingsEnsure accuracy of and compliance with tax calendar and internal controlsResponsible for the review preparation of internal and external statutory financial reporting associated with state and local taxMaintain up-to-date knowledge of state tax developmentsProvide information and support to business areasAdvise on non-routine transactions impacting state filings, including acquisitions and dispositionsAssist with state and local tax auditsPrepare, review and approve journal entriesReview internal and external statutory and GAAP financial reporting associated with the Tax, Licenses & Fees tax accrualsPrepare General Ledger ReconciliationsReview and respond to inquiries from state tax authoritiesAssist with state legislative and regulatory initiativesAssist State Government Relations and internal SALT attorney on legislative and regulatory mattersIncorporate changes in law to process and proceduresGuaranty Fund complianceDevelop a strong working relationship with internal and external clients, including vendor relationshipsThe Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree in Accounting or Finance1+ years state tax experienceThe Ideal Qualifications
CPA or MST highly desirable (or in-progress plans to obtain either2+ years of corporate state income tax experienceExperience in the insurance industry highly preferredWorking knowledge and experience related to state and local taxation a plusStrong computer skills, including tax compliance software, GL systems and research softwareWorking knowledge of Microsoft Access desirableExcellent oral and written communication skillsWhat to Expect as Part of MassMutual and the Team
