Role Purpose:

*       Take full ownership of all direct and indirect taxes

*       To prepare and submit all sales/VAT tax returns

*       Prepare files/information for corporation tax, capital allowance and R&D tax advisors  

*       To review and address all compliance requirements independently and/or with a help of an external tax advisor

 

Reports to: 

Director of Finance

 

Key interfaces:

All F&M teams, external tax advisors and tax authorities

 

Key Accountabilities:

 

*       Maintain tax risk register, review high risk areas at least one once a year

*       Prepare and monitor tax reporting calendar for all jurisdictions

*       Collate data, prepare tax files for submission and make sure all taxes are paid by due date

*       Explore potential automations with a support from F&M Transformation team

*       Work with external advisors on tax registrations/compliance in each country if and when required

*       Educate the business on various aspects of direct and indirect taxes, including VAT, GST and sales tax

*       To work closely with tax advisors on addressing historic and future risks, providing accurate data and answering all queries and requests in a timely manner

 

 

Role Specific Criteria (Experience/Behaviours/Technical Ability)

 

Essential:

-        Good understanding of the UK and EU VAT/sales tax legislation and reporting requirements

-        Exceptional analytical skills and attention to details

-        Excellent Excel skills – intermediate level or above

-        Ability to work independently within a dynamic fast-paced environment

-        Good communications skills

 

Desirable

-        ERP experience, ideally Microsoft Dynamics

-        Retail experience, ideally food business
