Teh Counselis responsible for:- Analyzing legislation for legal and constitutional implications;- Researching legal issues;- Preparing preliminary drafts of bills on requests, including program proposals- Assisting in the preparation of analytical memoranda relating to bills;- Performing other staff functions, such as preparation for public hearings and private conference, completion of research reports and meeting with individuals and groups regarding legislation. Minimum Qualifications -Candidate must have a Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school and be admitted to practice law in NYS.-Demonstrates strong negotiation and communication skills-Preferred to have legislative bill drafting experience (NYS Tax Law preferred but not required)-Excellent legal research and writing skills-Strong professional judgement, problem solving and decision-making skills.
