The Tax Director will be responsible for ensuring compliance with IRS regulations, maintaining strong internal controls, and managing a dedicated team of tax reporting analysts.
Operating within a high-volume shared services environment, the Tax Director will focus on the timely and accurate processing of tax reporting, effective collaboration with cross-functional teams, and continuous improvement of reporting processes. This individual will serve as the primary point of contact with the IRS, external auditors, and business partners, ensuring the Company meets all statutory reporting obligations and maintains compliance standards.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
Lead the preparation, review, and timely filing of annual 1042-S,1099, and 590 forms, ensuring accuracy and compliance with IRS regulationsOversee withholding, reconciliation, and validation processes related to payments made to both U.S. and international vendorsDesign, implement, and maintain internal controls, policies, and procedures to strengthen compliance and mitigate riskAct as the primary liaison with the IRS, external auditors, and internal stakeholders on information reporting and compliance mattersProvide strategic guidance, coaching, and mentorship to team members, ensuring high-quality deliverables and professional developmentCollaborate with Accounts Payable, Payroll, Procurement, Tax, and Legal teams to ensure accurate vendor classification, tax treatment, and reportingLead audit preparation and responses, including gathering documentation, performing reconciliations, and addressing inquiriesMonitor and analyze changes in tax laws and IRS reporting requirements; proactively implement necessary process adjustmentsDrive process improvements and automation initiatives to increase efficiency, accuracy, and scalability of tax reporting operationsDevelop and manage compliance calendars to ensure reporting deadlines are consistently metProvide management reporting, dashboards, and KPIs to senior leadership to assess compliance performance and identify areas for improvementSupport broader Finance initiatives and contribute to continuous improvement efforts across Accounts Payable and Shared ServicesWHAT YOU WILL NEED
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Taxation, or a related field10+ years of progressive experience in tax compliance and withholding reporting, with direct exposure to 1042, California Form 590, and 1099 reportingStrong technical knowledge of IRS information reporting requirements and tax withholding regulationsDemonstrated leadership experience, including managing, mentoring, and developing high-performing teamsProven ability to work effectively in a shared services or high-volume environment\Proficiency in advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP, reconciliations)Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detailExcellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and influence stakeholders at all levelsStrong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize competing demands and meet strict deadlinesNICE TO HAVE BUT NOT A DEALBREAKER

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay rate/range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is $160,000.00-195,000.00 annually. This role is also eligible for an annual discretionary bonus, various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents.
