Job Description Tax Expert to for Tax Advocacy and Special Projects

Role: Local Tax Expert

The Real Property Tax function will mainly include:

Preparation of annual RPT payments, and verification of deficiency RPT assessments for the Globe groupPreparation of computations/reports for management decisions on local tax issuesCoordinating with local government officials on needed documents/data, and advocating for Globe's tax positionMaintaining monitoring/database of RPT payments and status per local government unit

The MS Governance function will mainly include:

liaising between the MS team and the different departments of Globe,monitoring of the timelines/SLAs and raising any concern thereon with the MS team,meeting with and reviewing the progress of the team, andcoordination on the collation of the necessary documents needed by the MS team and the provincial RMs during business permit renewal.

Administrative Functions will include

Role as budget rep for TaxDevelopment of plans/initiatives to improve local tax processes, such as data cleanup of property registration files i.e. inventory of tax declarations, development and maintenance of database, improve monitoring of local tax compliance of stores, improvement of real property computation process, etc)

Tax Advisory and Special Projects will include:

Assisting the Head in tax impact assessment and structuring for corporate reorganizations and strategiesAssistance in the tax planning initiatives of the team (i.e. contract drafting for sale and purchases, other interco commercial agreements)Certificate Authorizing Registration (CAR) processing for sale of shares and real propertiesConducting tax due diligence in acquisitionsTaxation handling and advisory for Cross Border transactionsAssistance in BIR audits, especially in the preparation of Replies and Protests, and BIR negotiations for subsidiaries

The qualifications we are looking for

Candidate should have a background in accounting. Additional legal background a plus.Should have knowledge of tax laws/regulations and basic BIR application/filings (COR, CAR, Tax Clearances, ITAD Applications)Knowledge of Local Government Code tax provisions a plusExperience in the telecommunications industry a plusMust be proficient in MS Office, particularly in Excel in terms of handling large sets of financial and property dataPreferably knowledgeable of SAPPreferably with a background in handling local tax/local permit issues, or at least has experience in handling BIR auditsMust show high competence in reviewing/analyzing tax and accounting issues and providing recommendationsMust be able to exhibit confidence in liaising with government agencies and advocating Globe's positionsMust have good leadership and organizational skillsMust show ability to multitask in a fast paced environment
