What You'll Do We are looking for an individual with proven expertise on International VAT Reporting & EMEA VAT. The ideal candidate will be an experienced business professional with strong academic credentials & relevant domain experience. We are looking for a dynamic, energetic, team-oriented individual who has demonstrated adaptability to change through periods of rapid growth. The role involves analysing tax forms that are sourced by the research team and to make sure that the information that is captured in our VAT software is correctly mapped to the different forms that we support (VAT returns, Intrastat, VAT books, Ledgers,…). Because of the nature of the business it is crucial that this is done with great attention to detail. The candidate should be a critical thinker who can transform technical instructions into a fillable report. In order to ensure that our software is ever up to date and produces VAT reports of the highest quality you will: Apply the principles of agile software development. Analyse tax forms to understand how they work. Map data that is generated in our software to the tax form using in-house build tools. Partner with tax experts to ensure the form is created correctly. Work closely with the QA team to ensure all our forms are of the highest quality. Provide feedback to the sourcing team so we can optimize our processes. Carry out research and analysis on VAT legislation. Identify opportunities to automate, streamline, and reduce redundancy in current process. Lead automation & tax technology projects from inception to completion, including project planning, stakeholder management, resource allocation, and risk mitigation What You'll Need to be Successful Required Qualifications & Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field is a must Relevant advanced degree or certification (i.e. Accounting, Finance, Law, Economics) 5+ years of experience in EMEA VAT, VAT digital reporting / Indirect tax domain Expertise in EU VAT legislation & returns compliance in the EU Experience in indirect tax legal research- logical and creative approach to drilling down to specific data that is vital to the accuracy of the published content Understanding and basic knowledge on ERP systems and their database structures (SAP, ORACLE & other ERP’s) Experience with basics of XSD schemas & e-file formats like TXT,CSV etc. Effective communication skills (verbal and written)- conveying complex VAT/GST concepts to non-technical stakeholders Analytical skills & legal research experience - interpreting complex tax regulations, and developing effective tax technology solutions Experienced professional to support the team environment through collective team topics, load balancing, and sharing/receiving constructive feedback Proactively participate in a dynamic and innovative tax environment by maintaining a high level of energy while being consistently dependable, efficient, and accurate Proficiency in MS office tools, browsers & subscription research services. Experience in working with indirect tax technology solutions/ tax software implementations/ tax process improvement projects Preferred Qualifications Good knowledge of SQL, XML and XLS. Advanced tax certifications/ tax technology certificates Experience with tax code mappings Strong proficiency in tax technology tools, ERP systems, tax automation platforms & data analytics tools. Familiarity with indirect tax returns, SAF-T files & e-invoicing government reconciliations Experience in working/ leading projects with tax compliance, tax planning, tax audits, and tax reporting is also valuable. Experience with Agile or other project management methodologies is advantageous.
