The Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring tax systems, processes and tools are strategically designed and maintained to guarantee tax compliance matters are timely and accurately managed for the department. Additionally, this position will assist in the preparation and/or review of various tax compliance and/or tax accounting processes.
How You Will Make an Impact
Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:
Apply tax knowledge to identify opportunities to increase automation and data analytics capabilities.Manage tax transformation projects to meet department objectives, while guiding tax leadership and collaborating with internal stakeholders.Support initiatives which utilize tax technology and data such as tax modeling, tax impacts and forecasting, audit defense, etc.Manage application of Elevance Health information technology policies and procedures by working with applicable Information Technology and Procurement teams to implement and maintain tax technology applications.Researches and analyzes tax developments and their application to specific business situations.Assists or leads other tax department activities, including projects, and tax examinations.Assists with the development and training of other department members.If necessary, prepares and reviews federal and state income tax returns in accordance with applicable tax laws.If necessary, prepares related tax disclosures for statutory or GAAP financial statements and miscellaneous state and local tax filings.Minimum Requirements:
Requires BA/BS in accounting and a minimum of 6 years of tax experience, public accounting or the equivalent; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. Insurance industry experience preferred.
Preferred Skills, Capabilities and Experiences:
Working knowledge and understanding of some of the following programs, tools, or languages: Microsoft Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI, etc.), Microsoft 365, Alteryx, UiPath, Python, VBA, OneSource, Vertex, SQL, Teradata, Snowflake.Strong working knowledge of Generative AI.Strong collaboration skills and ability to work with cross functional teams.Experience working in a corporate tax department or public accounting.Job Level:
