Tax Manager
Position Overview

We are seeking a Direct Tax Manager to join a progressive Finance team committed to innovation and growth. In this role, you will oversee critical aspects of income tax compliance, reporting, forecasting, and strategic planning while leading a team of professionals. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership and cross-functional partners, making a measurable impact on organizational success.

Key ResponsibilitiesTeam Leadership: Guide and mentor a group of tax specialists, ensuring effective execution of U.S. income tax compliance, audits, planning, and accounting activities.Compliance Oversight: Manage the global income tax calendar to guarantee timely and accurate filings.Tax Strategy: Develop and implement initiatives to optimize direct tax positions and minimize corporate tax liabilities.Process Improvement: Drive continuous improvement efforts to streamline tax provision and compliance cycles while enhancing data quality.Stakeholder Collaboration: Maintain strong relationships with external advisors and internal finance teams.Technical Execution: Oversee preparation and review of federal and state tax returns, quarterly estimates, extensions, and related workpapers.Provision & Reporting: Prepare and review quarterly and annual tax provisions, including book-tax differences and disclosures.Forecasting: Analyze effective tax rates and cash tax projections for planning purposes.Audit Management: Coordinate federal and state audits, prepare responses, and keep leadership informed.Research & Advisory: Investigate complex tax issues and provide clear, actionable recommendations.Legislative Monitoring: Track new U.S. tax laws and assess their impact on the organization.Internal Controls: Ensure compliance with established controls and maintain supporting documentation.

QualificationsBachelor’s degree with 5+ years of tax experience, including at least 2 years in a leadership capacity within corporate tax or public accounting.Strong understanding of ASC 740 and U.S. GAAP principles.Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders.Advanced analytical and problem-solving capabilities.Familiarity with international tax concepts such as GILTI, FTC, FDII, and BEAT is a plus.Proven ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.Demonstrated success in building and coaching high-performing teams.Proficiency in Microsoft Office; experience with tax software (Vertex, PeopleSoft, CCH, iSeries) preferred.

This is a Contract position based out of Lincolnshire, IL.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.
