Key Responsibilities:
Tax Compliance and External Reporting
Review fiscal accounts and prepare timely income tax returns for all legal entities in Pakistan.
Ensure compliance with all income and sales tax regulations.
Manage income and sales tax audits, maintaining clear communication with regional tax teams and management.
Finalize open assessment years by collaborating with tax advisors and responding to inquiries from the tax department in coordination with the Regional Tax Manager.
Maintain an organized record of issues related to open assessment years and assist tax advisors in resolving these matters.
Collaborate with legal counsel on cases involving the High Court or Supreme Court.
File quarterly and annual statements in accordance with Pakistan Income Tax Law.
Maintain Local Files as mandated by Pakistan Income Tax Law.
Ensure timely and accurate submission of country-by-country reporting as required by Pakistan regulations.
Oversee the deposit of quarterly and annual corporate taxes as per Pakistan Income Tax Law.
Obtain withholding tax exemption certificates and track taxes withheld at the source to optimize tax payments.
Internal Reporting
Prepare monthly income tax forecasts aligned with US GAAP and Local GAAP.
Generate monthly summaries of tax developments and other reports as requested by the Regional Tax team.
Share issue sheets that detail background information, current status, and next steps for all tax-related matters in a timely manner.
Monitor fiscal developments in the country, recommending improvements to local processes to mitigate compliance risks and minimize costs while identifying potential tax incentives.
Review costs associated with tax advisors and auditors to ensure efficiency.
Accounting and Financial Reporting
Supervise the monthly reconciliation of P&L and balance sheet tax accounts, collaborating with service centers to ensure accurate tax provisions.
Calculate and record quarterly tax entries to address tax liabilities and contingencies.
Reconcile taxes withheld at the source against ledger records and available receipts.
Ensure compliance with local laws to maximize available tax incentives.
Support to Country Finance Manager and Local Leadership Team
Review business processes and contracts to identify and address tax-related clauses and exposures.
Engage in Global and Regional Projects and requests as needed.
Act as the country’s Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for all Transfer Pricing matters, including maintaining inter-company agreements, ensuring compliance with transfer pricing manuals, and managing accurate withholding tax treatment for foreign payments under Double Tax Treaties.
Provide training and serve as a go-to resource for local interactions on tax matters.
Job Qualifications
Qualified Chartered Accountant
1-2 years of experience in Tax, Audit and/or Local Comptroller role
Familiarity with tax accounting, compliance, and relevant tax laws.
Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Leadership and interpersonal skills.
Ability to collaborate optimally with diverse teams.
Attention to detail and capability to work with minimal direction.
Knowledge of SAP is advantageous.
