U.S. State & Federal Tax Controversy
Location: This position requires on-site presence at Ericsson Headquarters in Plano, Texas, three days per week.

About this opportunity
The Tax Controversy Manager will lead IRS and State audits across multiple jurisdictions, requiring deep expertise in U.S. Tax Compliance, controversy, and process optimization. This role demands a strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, with strong independence and problem-solving capabilities.
What you will do
Lead Federal and State tax audits by managing discussions with consultants, tax attorneys, and external stakeholders to support audit and strategic tax decisions.Drive process improvements by analyzing current workflows, identifying critical dependencies, and implementing streamlined, automated solutions.Provide expert tax advice on U.S. Mergers & Acquisitions projects.Perform in-depth analysis of large datasets using SQL, providing clear insights to leadership, tax authorities, and stakeholders.Respond to internal and external information requests, including preparing financial audit documentation and managing audit submissions to tax authorities.Collaborate across tax, accounting, finance, and technology teams to implement solutions that enhance audit processes and close existing gaps.Develop dashboards and reports, presenting status updates, project metrics, and gaining consensus from stakeholders and leadership.Manage relationships across internal teams and external providers, ensuring alignment on tax projects and audit strategies.
What you will bring
6–8 years of experience in U.S. Tax Compliance and Federal/State Tax Controversy.Strong knowledge of U.S. Federal & State Tax legislation and related party international transactions.Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; CPA preferred.Experience with multi-entity global organizations; telecommunications background is a plus.Expertise in corporate tax software and familiarity with M&A and Transfer Pricing.Proven ability to collaborate within matrixed organizations and simplify complex tax concepts.Strong analytical, communication, and presentation skills with high integrity and confidentiality.Knowledge of IFRS and GAAP is advantageous.
