Cluster Financial Planning & Analysis Manager

Purpose of the role 

This role manages all tax matters in Mexico and supports the Tax Director Americas on regional initiatives. It ensures compliance with Excise Tax, Customs Duty, VAT, Transfer Pricing, Income Tax, and Withholding Taxes while overseeing external advisors, tax audits, and disputes with authorities, including Prodecon. The position also supervises tax accounting under JSOX controls and contributes to IFRS tax reporting. Strategically, it collaborates with local partners and regional teams to define tax strategies, assess regulatory changes, and align intercompany financing with compliance and cash optimization goals. The role ensures the Mexican market’s transfer pricing compliance and flags legislative changes impacting JTI’s business model. Outside Mexico, it addresses tax issues in other markets, working with local teams and advisors to develop solutions.

 

Responsibilities 

For all taxes; manage the compliance cycle for Excise, VAT and Income Tax, Tax reports/ returns, Informative Tax reports, Transfer price reports and ensure they are filed/ reported with quality on time. Ensure all tax payments are made on time. Supervise the preparation and submission of all work performed by external contractors / advisors. Prepare analysis of international transactions to define the applicable tax treatment in accordance to local law and international Tax Treaties. Manage tax queries, audits and request for information from tax authorities. As required, provide requested information / support to tax authorities.  In the event of Tax disputes prepare defense files and lead discussions with Authorities with the support of external advisors and Group Tax Team. Be accountable to understand new rules and regulations (or interpretations) and communicate this in a clear and transparent manner for the business to understand implications, benefits/ risks and define potential actions/ options. Together with the Finance Director define Tax Strategies across Excise, Customs, VAT and Income Tax to develop strategies that:
•    Mitigate/ minimize business risk.
•    Find opportunities to reduce operating costs (minimize tax burden).
•    Maximize  & improve cashflow. Support the Accounting Manager in preparing the Local and IFRS Tax Reporting Package, including Income and Deferred Tax calculations. Address inquiries promptly. Reconcile accounting, fiscal, and transfer pricing figures, perform monthly tax reconciliations, and ensure compliance with electronic regulations. Prepare and submit external audit tax requirements. Assist in improving tax controls, efficiency, and processes by documenting workflows, assessing risks, and identifying improvements.

 

Requirements

University degree in either Law/ Finance/ Accounting / Economics. Tax specialization or related qualification is a plus. Proven experience in Tax in a Multinational, Law Firm or tax advisory Firm. Experience in leading a wide range of Mexican tax related topics, handling tax disputes and some experience of working on International Tax projects/ assignments. Advanced English is essential (B2 minimum) Excellent PC skills with proven proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and knowledge of filling in the SAT systems.
