Role description:

The Canada Tax Manager will be responsible for all Canadian corporate tax functions. They will be responsible for securing tax planning initiatives and managing all tax risks in Canada.

The Canada Tax Manager will have oversight of Canadian Corporate Income Tax compliance and review quarterly tax provisions to ensure that all relevant transactions are included and appropriately provided for and disclosed to the tax authorities. They will also be responsible for the timely resolution of tax audits of the Arcadis Canadian group. 

The Canadian Tax Manager works closely with the Americas Tax Director to optimize Canadian tax processes. In addition, the Tax Manager will provide ongoing support for tax planning initiatives outside of Canada (USA, LATAM and beyond).

Role accountabilities:

The Canadian Tax Manager will work in close cooperation with the Global Tax Department and Canadian Finance, Legal, and Treasury departments. The role is focused on delivery of timely and accurate filing and reporting of all Canadian tax positions, improving tax processes, and supporting the Global Business Areas and other departments on tax matters.  Align and optimize the global group structure, considering the new operating model, recent and future M&A transactions. Work with the Americas Tax Compliance and Reporting team to ensure timely and correct filings of the annual corporate income tax returns. Work with Group Treasury to manage Canadian dividend policy and withholding tax mitigation and compliance. Manage optimized withholding tax processes and positions for Canadian entities in the group  Pro-active business partnering to support the business, identify and anticipate relevant developments and keeping the business properly informed  Monitor relevant Canadian tax legislation changes and ensure timely compliance and optimal impact for the business  Manage the adequate operation of the Tax Control Framework for the relevant tax processes and ensure the key controls are met satisfactorily  Be the main contact person on behalf towards the Canadian tax authorities (federal and provincial) and actively build and maintain a good and transparent relationship with them in accordance with the Arcadis’ tax principles to ensure full compliance and manage the progress of tax audits.  Oversee the documentation of uncertain tax positions for the purposes of financial reporting under IFRS quarterly. Communicate with senior management and external advisors on relevant Canadian tax matters; Support on cross-border transactions among affiliated companies of Arcadis working with our central Transfer Pricing team as necessary. Support the US compliance team with cross-border transactions and informational reporting.  Support the wider business through researching and analysis of tax questions from other non-tax departments; Have a core understanding of the US Federal Tax code and regulations. Provide support to, and/or collaborate with the US Tax compliance team in the analysis of specific US tax issues/considerations/filing positions; Support the US compliance team with cross-border transactions and informational reporting. Works together with local finance teams and external advisers to ensure compliance with tax return filing obligations in Canada. Also works to ensure an appropriate response to the introduction of new laws;  Works with Global Business Area stakeholders to act as an enabler for international projects by providing practical and commercial tax advice.

Qualifications & Experience:

The Canada Tax Manager is responsible for delivering highly complex tax advice in a timely manner, this requires: Extensive knowledge of Canadian business taxes required. Experience of providing international tax advice to multinational large businesses. An ability to work methodically to ensure deadlines are met and attention to detail. Strong communication and influencing skills at all levels of the organisation; and He ability to adapt to changing conditions. The Canada Tax Manager will work collaboratively with global and local Finance and Fiscal, Legal, Accounting and Treasury (“FLAT”) teams. This is a wide-ranging role, with plenty of opportunities to get involved in tax issues across a range of countries beyond Canada.

The salary range for this position is $95,900 - $137,000. The base salary represents Arcadis’ hiring range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as location, skills, experience, and qualifications for the role.         #LI-HS1 #LI-Hybrid
