Brief Description:
The Indirect Tax Manager is responsible for ensuring day-to-day compliance with state and local tax laws, with an emphasis on sales and use tax. This role will ensure that the Company’s programs and policies are compliant with regulatory requirements and align with the organization’s business goals.
This role oversees tax analysts and performs under general direction of the Senior Tax Manager.
Detailed Description:
Tax Compliance
Review reconciliations and tax filings required for sales & use tax Manage the internal accounting for property tax liabilities and oversee reporting via third-party Provide timely responses to data requests related to sales, use, and property tax complianceSupport Senior Tax Manager with internal tax projects and external auditsMonitor, analyze and communicate relevant tax law changes to the Senior Tax ManagerWork with finance and accounting teams on tax recognition and budgeting
Tax Audits and Tax Notices
Support the Senior Tax Manager with state and local tax audits, including interactions with auditorsGather and organize information required for state, and local tax auditsPrepare responses to audit queries, as requestedOrganize and provide timely replies to state, and local tax notices
Other Responsibilities
Be the primary sales and use tax point of contact for customers and vendorsAssess tax impact of transactions and identify and communicate tax opportunities and risks Manage sales and use tax planning projects Perform research on various direct and indirect tax issues as neededAbility to analyze and interpret state tax laws and regulationsAbility to prioritize, multitask, problem solve, and work independentlyOther duties and projects, as assignedLeadership

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or similar field7+ years of relevant indirect tax experience in public accounting and/or corporate tax departmentManagerial/Supervisory experience
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in oil and gas tax compliance CPA and/or CMIWorking Conditions:
Work is primarily in a climate controlled / office environment with minimal safety / health hazard potential. The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, or walk with occasional lifting (overhead, waist level) from floor, bending and frequent near vision use for reading and use of computer, telephone and other office equipment.
