Tax Preparer - 3-5 Years
Description Job Summary: We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Tax Preparer with 3-5 years of experience to join our clients' teams for ongoing seasonal tax preparation opportunities during tax season. The ideal candidate will be responsible for preparing complex individual and small business tax returns, ensuring compliance with tax laws, and offering professional advice to clients. Key Responsibilities: Tax Preparation & Filing: + Prepare and file federal and state income tax returns for individuals and small businesses, ensuring accuracy and full compliance with tax regulations. + Review and analyze financial documents, including W-2s, 1099s, business income statements, and other relevant records to prepare accurate tax returns. + Identify and apply tax credits, deductions, and other strategies to maximize refunds and minimize liabilities for clients. + Prepare and file complex tax forms, including Schedule C (business income), Schedule D (capital gains), and other supplemental forms as needed. Client Communication & Consultation: + Provide expert advice to clients on tax planning strategies, deductions, and credits to reduce tax liabilities. + Answer client questions regarding tax situations, filing statuses, tax refunds, and payments. + Conduct consultations with clients to review and explain tax returns, offering guidance on potential tax savings or future planning. Compliance & Regulatory Updates: + Stay up-to-date with changes in federal, state, and local tax laws, ensuring compliance with all new tax regulations. + Review tax returns for accuracy, ensuring compliance with tax regulations and submitting error-free documents to the IRS and state agencies. + Monitor deadlines for tax filings and ensure timely submission of all required forms and documentation. Documentation & Recordkeeping: + Maintain accurate and organized client tax files, ensuring all necessary forms and supporting documentation are filed properly. + Ensure that all client records are handled in a secure and confidential manner. + Assist with audit support and respond to IRS inquiries as needed. Requirements Qualifications: + 3-5 years of experience in tax preparation, with a strong background in individual and small business tax returns. + Advanced knowledge of tax regulations, credits, deductions, and tax software (e.g., ProSeries, TurboTax, or similar). + Experience preparing complex tax forms and providing tax planning advice to clients. + Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines efficiently, particularly during tax season. + Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in all tax filings. + Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work with clients and explain complex tax situations in an understandable way. + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; CPA or Enrolled Agent designation a plus.
