Job Summary:
The Tax Senior Manager will join a team focused team which provides tax compliance and tax planning for the organization. This individual is responsible for planning and coordinating the preparation of federal and various state tax returns of BDO USA, P.C. and its affiliates. The Tax Senior Manager is also responsible for reviewing tax workings and tax returns prepared by Senior Tax Accountants. The role includes facilitating tax planning for estimated payments and general tax minimization for the firm by maximizing various tax attributes. In addition, the role includes working in a dynamic environment to properly minimize the tax exposure to the firm and develop efficient processes, with a focus on automation, to ensure full tax compliance. Working through periodic income tax audits with a view towards obtaining no change results is another aspect of this role.
The Tax Senior Manager will also lead the income tax accounting function by planning and completing income tax provisions for financial statement purposes. This entails setting the income tax expense budget for the fiscal year, quantifying the monthly income tax provision under ASC 740-270-55 (utilizing the estimated annual effective tax rate approach), reviewing the year-end tax provision and income tax footnote component of the audited financial statements and quantifying return-to-provision adjustments.

Job Duties:
Gathers necessary data and information for the preparation of the firm’s federal, state and local income tax returns Reviews tax returns prepared by Tax Senior Accountants Conducts research and compliance analysis relating to various state and/or local tax reporting requirements Gathers required information, and drafts communications to respond to notices from tax authorities Analyzes state tax positions to determine tax efficiencies for the firm Suggests tax minimization actions based on the evolving operations of the firm Responsible for tracking tax return filing and payment due dates to ensure compliance Facilitates responses to audits conducted by various tax authorities and negotiating tax assessment results Interacts with Principal Accounting team to produce and publish taxable income packages (including 1099’s) for retired owners of the firm Leads the accounting for income tax process including identifying book-tax differences and managing the recording of deferred taxes Reconciles relevant general ledger accounts that capture the accounting for income taxes activity Other duties as requiredSupervisory Responsibilities:

Bachelor’s degree, required, focus in Accounting or Taxation, preferred Master’s degree in Accounting or Taxation, preferredExperience
