We are seeking a detail-oriented and knowledgeable Tax Specialist to join our finance team. The Tax Specialist will be responsible for ensuring compliance with sales and use, property, and other indirect tax regulations, as well as managing fixed asset tax records. This role also includes preparing and reviewing various tax filings, supporting audits, and contributing to process improvements related to tax and asset management.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:Prepare and file accurate and timely state and local tax returns, including sales and use tax, property tax, and other indirect taxesMaintain and reconcile fixed asset records for tax purposes, including asset categorization, useful life, and depreciation methodsEnsure compliance with applicable indirect tax laws and reporting requirementsAssist with the setup and maintenance of tax parameters related to fixed assets in accounting systemsSupport internal and external audits by gathering necessary documentation and responding to inquiriesMonitor legislative and regulatory changes impacting indirect taxes and fixed assetsReconcile tax-related general ledger accounts and resolve discrepanciesCollaborate with procurement, accounts payable, and operations teams to ensure accurate tax treatment of transactionsIdentify and implement process improvements to enhance tax reporting accuracy and efficiencyPreferred Skills:
Experience with taxability reviews and fixed asset auditsFamiliarity with ERP systems and fixed asset modulesUnderstanding of state and local tax exemption processes and documentation requirementsThe physical environment requires the employee to work inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently stand, walk, sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; talk or hear; utilize personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to potentially hazardous materials, lift (overhead, waist level) from the floor, bending, frequently utilize near vision use for reading and computer use; be able to handle semi-frequent stressful conditions (cardiovascular), frequently work in outdoor weather conditions, frequently move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, occasionally ascend/descend a ladder, operate a motor vehicle, frequently position self to maintain computers or other equipment as needed.
On-call for critical systems, maintenance may be required. First shift hours Monday – Friday, with occasional 2nd or 3rd shift and weekends depending on project schedules.
