Summary of the role:
This role is part of the North America RTA (Regional Tax and Accounting) Tax Team reporting to the Income Tax Manager located in Bogota, Columbia. At this time, the position does not have any direct reports.
This position, reporting to the Bogota, Columbia Tax Manager, will be responsible for assisting and collaborating with the tax team on, internal and outsourced direct and indirect tax compliance requirements and projects impacting the US, Central America, the Caribbean, and the LATAM region. The ideal candidate will have proven accounting skills and a technical tax background, while having a roll up their sleeve’s enthusiasm and work ethic. They will work hands on with compliance tax matters, prepare account reconciliations, prepare journal entries, work with third party consultants, and play a key role in companywide projects. We seek a determined self-starter that can manage multiple competing priorities.
In this role you’ll:
Assist the Tax Manager with the end-to-end compliance process and communicate with local consultants on the outsourced compliance engagements.
Internally prepare workpapers while meeting required deadlines. Use critical thinking in preparation of deliverables including but not limited to: annual income tax returns and estimated payments, monthly indirect tax filings and payments, and recording of journal entries in the general ledger system. The role will be responsible for communicating with various departments in satisfaction with compliance requirements.
Prepare and review monthly tax account reconciliations and required accounting journal entries. Effectively communicate, verbally and electronically, with global departments to obtain relevant data efficiently, and timely meet internal and external deliverable deadlines.
Assess the current tax systems and procedures for efficiency and work with the team to develop improvements where needed.
Consult with and assist the team on company driven global tax projects and initiatives including tax planning and implementations of newly enacted procedures and guidelines, software systems, entity restructurings, etc.
Provide tax compliance support to the business and the Finance Service Center (FSC) including withholding tax certificate management, required internal reports and schedules, and intercompany transactions.
About the ideal candidate:
Minimum of 5+ years of corporate in-house tax and/or public accounting experience.
Fluency in spoken and written business English is required
Technical Competencies:
Proficient in advanced Excel skills (Pivot, Sumif, Vlookup)
SAP S4Hana experience
Experience with Central America and Caribbean, LATAM taxes.
Accounting background
A strategic mindset and strong analytical and problem resolution skills
Experience collaborating with consultants
Ability to communicate issues in a clear and effective manner
