Tax Specialist - Mergers & Acquisition Tax

PURPOSE AND OBJECTIVES

The M&A Tax Group is a critical part of the Global Tax Team. The team is responsible for evaluating M&A tax strategies, mitigating tax risks in M&A transactions, and overseeing the post-acquisition legal integration process. The Tax Specialist M&A Tax will support the team by managing communication between various stakeholders, assisting with project coordination, and helping manage tax-related activities in M&A transactions.

 

EXPECTATIONS AND TASKS

Assist in the provision of tax advice in the context of national and international M&A activities, including acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures, focusing on tax planning, associated compliance and reporting support. Support and coordinate the legal entity consolidation efforts in collaboration with SAP’s tax, finance, HR and legal teams. Help drive projects to execution by tracking deadlines, ensuring proper documentation, and facilitating collaboration across teams. Tax (accounting) support as regards to SAP’s private equity and venture capital activities, focusing on international tax considerations and financial closing activities (deferred tax calculations). Assist in the preparation and review of tax due diligence reports. Help identify and implement measures for risk reduction and ensure tax considerations are addressed in group tax accounting. Coordinate integration initiatives around of M&A transactions, including tax considerations in group-internal restructurings, Intellectual Property consolidation, and business model changes. Support in managing internal and external communications related to M&A tax projects, ensuring timely updates to key stakeholders and help coordinating external tax advisors and manage the flow of information between departments. Assist with the tax field audit cycle in the context of M&A transactions, helping prepare reports and other documentation as needed.

 

EDUCATION AND QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

 

Required skills

University degree (or equivalent) in tax, business studies, economics, finance, or a related field. Strong communication skills and a positive team player with the ability to work collaboratively and effectively across departments. Familiarity with international (M&A) tax matters or an eagerness to learn in this area. Proficient in English (both written and spoken), German is a plus. Ability to manage tasks effectively, prioritize deadlines, and communicate progress across teams.

 

Preferred skills

Knowledge of tax accounting . Basic experience and strong interest in supporting M&A tax projects in a multinational environment. Basic understanding of international taxation, including transfer pricing, and financing aspects would be advantageous.

 

WORK EXPERIENCE

2-3 years of experience in a tax-related role within an international environment, either in a tax consulting firm or within the tax or accounting function of a multinational company, with interest in M&A tax and eager to grow.
