Job Description

Roles and Responsibilitites

Prepare annual tax provisions including required distributable amount, incorporating all required tax adjustments to net investment income.

• Prepare the federal and state income tax returns for the Manufacturers Investment Trust portfolios. • Calculate tax basis dividend distributions for Portfolios of the MIT associated with the Company’s variable product.

• Determine excise tax distributable amounts for applicable portfolios of the MIT.

• Prepare ROC-SOP (Return of Capital) adjustments.

• Prepare tax basis adjustments of investment securities.

• Review diversification tests applicable to tax rules for all portfolios.

• Prepare reports for management as requested

• Participate on mutual fund tax related projects as needed

• Assists in strategic planning, scheduling of workflow assignments and procedural reviews.

• Interacts with Treasury, Financial Reporting, Investment Operations, custodian banks, Compliance, and Portfolio Managers

• Other duties as assigned Shared Responsibilities:

• Develop software solutions for Tax

• Asset managers in the development and implementation of internal controls for risk mitigation including preparation of written policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance or related experience.

• 3-5 years regulated investment company taxation experience.

• Solid understanding of federal and state tax compliance concerning regulated investment companies, insurance companies and regular corporations.

• Ability to understand financial statements and related reports and spreadsheets.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, use of macros, and Word required

• Understanding of mutual fund related tax code sections, forms and elections, and tax adjustments of securities.

• Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of standard RIC tax adjustments.

• Ability to communicate well across all mediums and with both internal and external relationships.

• Organizational skills necessary to meet deadlines, prioritize projects, and process several projects simultaneously.

• Strong analytical skills and ability to work well in a changing environment Decision Authorities:

• Decisions are done at the preparation level and then reviewed by a manager.
