TCC Rad Clinical Instructor
The TCC Clinical Instructor is responsible and accountable for the maintenance and quality of patient care on a continuing basis for the Radiology Department and throughout the organization. The TCC Clinical Coordinator supervises and evaluates the clinical education of students in clinical. Essential Duties and Responsibilities + Oversees students and ensures they produce a variety of high quality radiographs through proper positioning and technique + Provide portable x-ray services to all areas of the hospital + Review images to ensure good quality and, if necessary, work with technologists to improve image quality + Coordinate student clinical instruction within the facility + Orient students to the hospital, radiology department, routine procedures, and the radiographic equipment + Perform competency based clinical evaluations of students to meet minimum objectives as established by the college + Rotate through the radiography rooms to individually assist and instruct students during radiographic procedures + Conduct film critiques and radiographic evaluations with students to meet clinical objectives established by the college + Conduct mini-sessions with students to practice and refresh positioning skills during periods of decreased department activity + Perform random simulations with students during periods of decreased department activity + Act as a liaison between TCC and Radiology Department. + Confer with the TCC program officials on a regular basis in regard to student progress. + Attend radiology department staff meetings (whenever possible or permissible) and convey hospital policy and procedure changes to the students and program officials + Consistently enforce the established clinical policies among all students as outlined in the radiology student handbook + Monitor student supervision by registered technologists in the department to assure that a 1:1 radio is maintained, as established by the JRCERT + Assist program officials in developing student objectives and evaluation tools for clinical education + Maintain accurate and organized student clinical records + Communicate with didactic instructors to correlate didactic and clinical instruction + Assist staff and supervisors in maintaining and improving skills related to student instruction and supervision + Attend regularly scheduled clinical instructor meetings to keep abreast of program changes and take part in decisions affecting the clinical aspect of the program + Evaluate each student two times per semester (mid-term and final) on performance, patient care arid ethics + Assign a final grade to each student based on the evaluation criteria outlined in the course syllabus + Utilize assigned functions with the Radiology Information System to complete paperwork and to document contrast media reactions + Practice radiation safety according to department, NRC, and State policies to keep exposure “ALARA” + Review patient’s chart for confirmation of physician's orders, and follows written and/or verbal protocols and instructions + Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care + Communicate equipment malfunctions and low inventory levels to the appropriate supervisor + Utilize the hospital computer system to enter radiology and laboratory orders, charges or credits + Educate the patient, and family as necessary, regarding the exam, treatment, and outcome Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education and Experience Minimum Required Education: Graduation from an accredited Radiologic Technology school Preferred Education: N/A Experience: Applicants must have 2+ years full-time experience as a Registered Radiologic Technologist in a hospital setting Certificates, Licenses, Registrations Applicants must be ARRT registered and obtain a BLS certification within 6 months of employment.
